Team Overview
At Equinix, energy is a strategic enabler of our global digital infrastructure. Managing power costs, commodity exposure, and market risk is essential to operating one of the world’s largest data center platforms.
The Energy Market Risk Intern will support the Energy team by contributing to energy risk analysis, commodity portfolio insights, and market intelligence, while also assisting with cost, billing, and operational workflows. This role is designed for students who are passionate about energy and power markets, and who bring finance, accounting, and IT skills as part of their analytical toolkit.
This is not a traditional finance internship. It is an applied energy role that blends markets, infrastructure, and operational execution.
What You Can Expect
Support energy market and risk analysis, including energy commodity exposure tracking and scenario comparisons
Assist with analysis of the energy and power commodity portfolio, focusing on cost drivers and market trends
Gather and summarize energy market intelligence (pricing signals, regional power dynamics, proposed utility tariff changes)
Support development and upkeep of energy cost and budget calculators
Review and process utility invoices, utility tariff schedules, and bill pay workflows
Assist with regional power capacity reviews and demand planning inputs
Support tracking and validation of construction-related energy invoices
Prepare summaries and reports for energy, operations, and leadership teams
