Getting Started

Qualified candidates can expect to go through an interview with a recruiter, a hiring manager, and business stakeholders. Each person will assess different aspects of your skills and experience, helping us get a well-rounded understanding of how you’d perform at Equinix. Your recruiter will outline the specific process that applies to the role you’re being considered for.

We aim to communicate clearly and share next steps as quickly as possible after internal alignment. Your recruiter will keep you updated throughout the process. You will also be able to check the status of your application in the profile you have created on our platform.

Hybrid expectations apply to employees in our Centralized, Technologist, and Corporate Workforce roles. Some roles do require full‑time in‑office work, while permanently remote employees are excluded.

Interview Process

Be ready to share an overview of your background, what interests you about the role and Equinix, and what you’re looking for next. We encourage you to review the job description and prepare a few questions for your recruiter.

You can expect a mix of role-related and behavioral-based questions that explore your professional experience, skills and competencies. Additionally, you can expect to be asked about how you approach work situations, including how you collaborate, solve problems, and deliver results.

When answering behavioral-based questions, be sure to focus on the question asked. Ensure your answer is well-structured and provide examples using metrics or data if applicable.

Here are a few examples of behavioral-based questions

·       Tell me about a time you had to be transparent in a challenging situation.

·       Describe a time you went above and beyond for a customer or partner.

·       Share an example of when you stepped outside your comfort zone to make an impact.

The STARR method is a structured framework used to answer behavioral interview questions. Using STARR helps keep answers concise, specific, and easy to follow. When you’re asked a question about your past work, a strong response gives us insight into how you think, act, and problem-solve.

Your answer should include:

  • Situation: set the context
  • Task: your responsibility
  • Actions: what you did
  • Results: the outcome
  • Reflection: what you learned/what you’d do differently

Here’s what it looks like:

S = SITUATION

Start by setting the scene. What was going on? Where were you working? What was happening? Give just enough background so we understand the big picture and what made the situation interesting or challenging.

T = TASK

What was your goal? What were you responsible for? This helps us understand your role and what you were trying to achieve.

A = ACTION

Walk us through what you did. What steps did you take? What did you specifically do? Be sure to focus on your individual contributions versus what the team accomplished.

R = RESULT

What was the final outcome? What happened as a result of your actions? Share what you accomplished through specifics, data, numbers or specific outcomes to back it up.

R = REFLECTION

If you were in the situation again, what might you do differently? How has this experience shaped your approach?

And remember, not every story needs to be a win. What matters most is how you learned, evolved, and strengthened your impact moving forward.

To help you prepare and rehearse your interview, you can consider using this prompt on any AI-search platform:

Analyze the following job description and compare it against my resume. Identify key skills, experiences, and gaps. Then:

1. Generate 8 mock interview questions based on the job requirements and my resume.

2. Draft strong sample responses for each question using the STARR method where applicable.

3. Simulate a full interview by asking me these questions one by one, allowing me to respond.

 4. After each response, critique my answer for clarity, relevance, confidence, and alignment with the job description. Suggest improvements.

Before starting, ask me to choose:

  • Voice Simulation: Conduct the interview as if we were speaking in real-time, and provide verbal feedback.
  • Text Simulation: Conduct the interview in text mode, waiting for my typed responses and providing written feedback.

It’s your chance to share what excites you about our purpose, culture, values and the kind of work you want to do here. Showing you’ve done research on Equinix and connecting it to your motivations makes your answer stronger.

Interviewers want to understand why this opportunity fits your skills and how it aligns with your career goals. A strong answer connects your experience to what the role needs, your key motivators for applying (e.g., mission, product, impact, team, growth, tech/problem space), and explains what you’re excited to learn or build next.

It depends on the role. If your interview is virtual, plan to join from a quiet space, test your camera setup and internet connection, and dress professionally. If your interview is on‑site, your recruiter or recruiting coordinator will help with scheduling, and you should dress professionally.

Ask thoughtful questions, confirm next steps, and if you’d like, invite feedback or address any concerns directly.

At Equinix, hiring decisions are made by assessing the specific requirements of each role and evaluated using consistent hiring criteria. Our interviewers assess candidate’s skills, experience, and alignment with our values and ways of working. We review feedback collectively across the interview team. No single interview or interviewer determines the outcome. We hire candidates that are most aligned to the requirements of the role, our values and core capabilities.

Post Interview / Next Steps
