The Operations Project team drives continuous improvement and expansion of critical technical infrastructure across our Netherlands data centres. We deliver high-impact projects, leveraging deep expertise in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
As an engineer in the Operations Project Management department, you are responsible for analysing, advising, supporting, and executing technical projects in the Equinix data centres in the Netherlands, all the way through to delivery. The Project Engineer Electrical has expert knowledge and experience in (emergency) power supply, electrical distribution systems, switching and control systems, building-related installations, and has an affinity with other disciplines within the data centres.
Your tasks include:
- Advising and supporting engineers in the data centres regarding electrical installations
- Assessing designs and existing situations against design standards, policies, and procedures
- Analysing and assisting in resolving/preventing incidents in the critical infrastructure
- Conducting feasibility studies, risk management, and business case development
- Developing project proposals
- Maintaining contacts with external suppliers and contractors
- Supervising projects and overseeing execution
- Testing & commissioning installations and reporting results
- Collecting lessons learned and initiating improvement proposals.
- Leading or facilitating small-scale projects and engineering initiatives
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing engineering systems at an expert level, ensuring safe working practices
- Identifying and resolving power and cooling limitations in collaboration with site teams
- Providing and receiving feedback on training programs; mentoring and training others
- Supporting contract administration, including reviewing and monitoring contracts and change orders
- Directing and coordinating external vendors and internal teams on projects
- Participating in the development, review, and adherence to engineering policies and procedures
- Solving complex, cross-functional technical issues and conducting root cause analysis
- Acting as a subject matter expert and sharing technical knowledge within and outside the team
Your profile:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a higher professional (HBO) working and thinking level
- Proven experience in installation technology, electrical engineering, or the data/telecom industry
- Experience working in mission-critical environments is advantageous
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Dutch language skills or willingness to learn are preferred
- Methodical, structured, and detail-oriented approach to work
- Demonstrated experience in project-based environments
- Customer-focused, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
- Collaborative team player, able to work effectively within the department and across data center teams
- Understanding of Six Sigma principles is beneficial
