Job Description

Are you practical, hands-on, and passionate about technology? Whether you've recently completed an MBO qualification, gained experience through an internship, or worked in a technical maintenance environment such as hotels, manufacturing, facilities management, utilities, or industrial sites, this could be an exciting opportunity to start or grow your career in the fast-growing world of data centres.

At Equinix, we provide the infrastructure that powers the digital world. We are looking for motivated Dutch-speaking engineers and technicians who enjoy solving problems, learning new skills, and working as part of a close-knit team.

What You'll Do

As a Critical Facility Engineer, you'll help maintain and improve the mechanical systems that keep our Amsterdam data centres operating safely and reliably.

You'll work on equipment such as:

  • Cooling towers
  • Pumps and piping systems
  • Fans and ventilation systems
  • Cooling and chilled water systems
  • Other critical mechanical infrastructure

With support from experienced colleagues, you'll:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Learn how to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
  • Follow safety and operational procedures
  • Record completed work accurately in maintenance systems
  • Help identify improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Work closely with fellow engineers, planners, and operational teams

Who We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • Qualified to MBO Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Mechatronics, Installation Technology, or a similar technical field
  • A recent graduate, apprentice, or someone with practical maintenance experience
  • Curious, eager to learn, and willing to develop new technical skills
  • Comfortable working with tools and mechanical equipment
  • A team player who enjoys solving problems
  • Fluent in Dutch and comfortable communicating in English

Experience with refrigeration technology, STEK certification, or F-Gases is a plus, but not essential. If you have a solid technical foundation and the right attitude, we'll help you develop the rest.

Why Join Equinix?

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Structured training and development programme
  • Opportunity to build a long-term career in the data centre industry
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 27 days' holiday plus the option to purchase 3 additional days
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan and Company Pension Plan
  • Subsidised on-site lunch (optional)
  • Ongoing investment in your professional growth and technical development
  • Work alongside experienced engineers in one of the world's leading digital infrastructure companies

Start Your Career with Equinix

You don't need years of data centre experience to be successful here. If you're technically minded, enjoy working with your hands, and want to build a career in a growing industry, we'd love to hear from you.
