Job Summary

The Director is accountable for leading the EMEA Regional Procurement Management team and ensuring resilient, scalable and cost-effective procurement execution across a growing and complex regional portfolio.

The role owns the EMEA procurement operating model, scalability roadmap, supplier performance discipline, prebuy, inventory and asset governance, financial tracking, and end-to-end integration across planning, procurement, delivery and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

People Management

• Lead, structure and develop the EMEA Regional Procurement Management organisation, establishing clear accountability, decision rights, role clarity and scalable ways of working
• Develop and coach a high-performing team capable of supporting portfolio growth, increased complexity and significant financial exposure
• Establish team goals, OKRs, operating rhythms and performance expectations aligned with regional and global business priorities
• Create a collaborative, inclusive and accountable culture that reflects Equinix values and supports effective partnership across regional and global teams

Business Partnering

• Serve as the senior procurement execution partner for EMEA Data Center Infrastructure, connecting procurement priorities with capacity planning, construction delivery, engineering standards, financial commitments and commissioning
• Partner with leaders across Design, Construction, Engineering, Finance, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain, Legal, Operations and xScale to deliver integrated business outcomes
• Drive alignment between regional execution requirements and global procurement, category management, supplier and supply chain priorities
• Act as an escalation point for stakeholder misalignment, supplier performance issues, schedule-critical risks, inventory decisions and commercial trade-offs

Resource Management

• Own the regional procurement delivery operating model, including resource allocation, workload management, team capacity, process simplification, governance and management information
• Ensure that EMEA RPM can scale effectively as demand increases, without relying solely on linear headcount growth, excessive manual coordination or reactive escalation
• Provide accurate and timely updates on procurement execution, supplier readiness, portfolio risk, team productivity, inventory exposure, cost forecasts and operational performance
• Leverage and implement AI capabilities and ensure new procurement processes are AI-enabled
• Partner with Finance to strengthen budget discipline, committed-spend visibility, inventory valuation, storage-cost governance, cash-flow forecasting and cost-optimisation initiatives

Negotiations

• Engage directly with senior supplier stakeholders to resolve escalations, establish recovery plans, secure delivery outcomes and protect Equinix business commitments
• Sponsor negotiations relating to regional procurement execution, including supplier performance commitments, delivery schedules, commercial terms, logistics, storage, services and change-management requirements
• Partner with business stakeholders to establish negotiation objectives that balance cost, delivery certainty, supplier capacity, operational flexibility, risk, quality and total cost of ownership
• Ensure contractual and commercial positions support project milestones, supplier accountability and transparent risk allocation

Procurement Strategy

• Own the EMEA RPM strategy, operating model and scalability roadmap, aligning regional procurement execution with global procurement strategies and business growth priorities
• Translate supplier capacity, market intelligence, delivery plans, inventory data and project requirements into clear procurement execution plans and recommendations
• Lead procurement simplification, centralisation and standardisation initiatives across EMEA to improve speed, consistency, governance, quality and cost transparency
• Continuously improve procurement processes, tools, controls and decision forums to enable faster, more reliable and more scalable delivery

Cost Savings and Financial Management

• Deliver cost-optimisation initiatives across regional procurement execution while protecting schedule certainty, supplier resilience, safety, quality and customer commitments
• Identify savings and efficiency opportunities across supplier terms, sourcing execution, logistics, storage, inventory utilisation, process design and supplier performance
• Build clear cost forecasts, savings pipelines, benefit-tracking mechanisms and risk-adjusted business cases for procurement, pre-buy, inventory and asset decisions
• Support disciplined trade-offs between availability, cost, storage, lead time, design change, supplier capacity and project requirements

Supplier Management

• Lead supplier performance management across the EMEA RPM portfolio, ensuring suppliers deliver against capacity, schedule, quality, responsiveness, recovery commitments and continuous-improvement expectations
• Oversee supplier capacity planning, strategic sourcing inputs, delivery readiness, supplier scorecards, quality management, escalation resolution and on-time delivery outcomes
• Identify and mitigate supplier risks, including capacity constraints, quality issues, single-source or sole-source exposure, financial risk, logistics constraints, country-specific risks and competing market demand
• Lead or sponsor quarterly short-form supplier business reviews, corrective-action plans, executive escalations and recovery governance when delivery, quality or risk requires senior intervention
• Build supplier relationships that support long-term reliability, resilience, innovation, cost-effectiveness and speed to market

Contract Management

• Ensure procurement documentation supports accurate project allocation, order tracking, inventory controls, asset tracking, financial reporting and auditability
• Drive disciplined contract governance so schedule-critical and financially material commitments are visible, measurable and enforceable

Inventory, Asset Governance and Lifecycle Management

• Own EMEA governance for pre-buy strategies, inventory, storage, asset allocation, deployment readiness, lifecycle tracking and redeployment decisions
• Lead cross-functional decisions on when to reserve capacity, buy ahead, hold inventory, release assets, reallocate equipment or change procurement plans based on business requirements

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in procurement, supply chain, capital equipment, infrastructure, construction, engineering, industrial operations or mission-critical delivery preferred
• Experience of people leadership experience, including responsibility for managers, senior professionals or complex cross-functional teams
• A degree in engineering, supply chain, construction management, business, finance or a related discipline is preferred
• Direct experience in data centres, hyperscale cloud infrastructure, mission-critical facilities, utilities, power equipment, industrial infrastructure, manufacturing or an adjacent capital-intensive sector is strongly preferred

Knowledge and Experience

• Extensive experience in procurement, supply chain, capital equipment or infrastructure, with accountability for complex regional operations
• Strong knowledge of procurement strategy, supplier capacity planning, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, inventory management and supplier performance
• Proven success implementing organisational transformation, operating-model improvements, process simplification, centralisation or standardisation in a high-growth environment
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing significant spend, inventory investments, forecasting, cost optimisation and portfolio-level trade-offs
• Experience developing scalable end-to-end supply chain solutions across planning, procurement, delivery, inventory management and asset lifecycle governance
• Working knowledge of data centre design, construction delivery, power and cooling infrastructure, project controls, commissioning dependencies and supplier delivery requirements
• Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, governance frameworks and supplier performance mechanisms
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams through complexity, growth and change
