Job Summary
The Corporate Development Senior Manager leads Regional business planning/analysis, strategic initiatives, and new business development. They are expected to build strong partnerships with all major functions and build an internal consulting services capability to support strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and real estate investments.

Responsibilities
Investment Management

• Responsible for near- and long-term capacity plans and maintain an inventory roadmap for each metro

• Helps develop metro real estate strategies and support capex forecasts on planned development

• Identifies business cases for new development

• Oversees the financial modeling and development of presentations

• Advises Design, Construction, Sales, Ops, Finance and other departments on optimal development plans

• Responsible for the investment approval process and capex prioritization

• Develops and presents investment proposals to executive management

• Develops asset management optimization strategies, including expansion, contraction, disposition, and reconfiguration of properties

• Develops recommendations for improving financial analysis methodology

• Reviews ad hoc financial analysis and support investment analysis for other business units including M&A, Strategy, Business Development, and others

M&A

• Supports buyside and sellside M&A processes

• Identifies deal issues and works with teams to resolve

• Actively follows and analyze deal activity in areas of interest to Equinix

• Develops deal valuation frameworks including comparable companies, precedent transactions, discounted cash flow and related investment return valuation models; and pro forma accretion/dilution analyses

• Develops operational models and synergy forecasts for targets with FP&A support

• Works with Treasury team to support financing associated with a transaction

• Supports development of M&A thesis (the "why") in support of Strategy with the Business Unit Heads

• Develops operational models and synergy forecasts for targets

• Develops transaction timeline

• Supports the storyboarding of presentations to drive discussion at the Senior Executive level

• Communicates with stakeholders to ensure alignment on active deal pipeline and resources allocation priorities

Strategic Planning and Development

• Manages the annual strategic planning process in conjunction with the Regional and Corporate teams

• Evaluates and (in some cases) spearheads corporate development opportunities, partnering with Finance, Marketing and other operating areas

• Develops strategy/business cases, sells into organization, leads and manages cross-functional program teams, and raises/resolves issues

• Takes on a wide variety of roles, depending on the project

• Gives presentations to senior management on key initiatives

• Participates in and leads key initiatives during the annual strategy planning process

• Guides research into market extension opportunities (i.e. new services, solutions, business models)

Project and Program Management

• Works with E-team members to identify business issues requiring project management

• Develops Executive staff and Board presentation materials

• Identifies, designs, prioritizes, manages and reports on complex strategic initiatives across the business

• Leads efforts on internal consulting projects focused on new markets/products, growth initiatives and profitability improvements

• Provides short-term consulting/problem solving/performance improvement support and advice to E-team

• Runs interdepartmental working group meetings with little or no supervision

• Interviews HODs and Country Managers to troubleshoot issues

• Runs working group team meetings between HODs and VPs

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Helps kick-off meetings and hosts sections of cross-departmental meetings as needed

• Works with working group team members to identify, catalogue, document, and make recommendations to more senior team members

• Provides summary notes and follow-up emails to working teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; CPA or MBA a plus

• Proven years of business experience, preferably in Investment Banking/Top tier Management consulting/Corporate Finance/Corporate Development at a leading technology company preferred
