Job Summary
The Software Development Eng Staff (Specialist level) is a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization while responsible for a variety of software development engineering systems issues. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Is an individual contributor level that does not lead other employees or teams.
Responsibilities
A seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
Technical
Consistently produces maintainable, high quality professional software code independently
Designs systems independently and leads by example to more junior team members
Debugs production issues involving multiple systems; works to simplify, optimize and remove bottlenecks
Sets code review guidelines and sets an example in code quality to more junior team members
Technical for SDET/QA
Owns and delivers on quality goals for the team; leads by example
Contributes towards CI/CD goals for the team
Influences the definition of stories and epics and owns functional test methodology
Has a firm grasp of system and deployment architecture; identifies performance and scalability bottlenecks and influences the solution
Dealing with Ambiguity
Technical strategy is defined. Able to deal with ambiguity and adopt
Helps to interpret ambiguous product requirements and provides clarity
Process
Identifies opportunities to improve the team's efficiency and operational excellence, and implements within a diverse scope
Scope and Impact
Owns medium, large sub-systems consisting of many moving features and parts of software engineering systems
Leadership
Dives deep into the root cause of issues and ensures that the issues remain fixed
Collaborates with and influences team members; mentors junior engineers
Views problems as opportunities and proposes solutions
Acts like an owner; thinks on behalf of customers
Able to navigate challenges faced in achieving goals or reach out for help in a timely manner

Qualifications
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
