The Compliance Operations Manager acts as a specialized person responsible to track the various compliances for data centres and pursue with respective Operations team to ensure these compliances are completed on time. The person will be responsible for resolving compliance issues, implementation of compliance and local legislative requirements at site level, ensures Equinix management systems remain compliant to the requirements globally and drives continual improvement.

Responsibilities

1st Line Responsibilities

  • Acts as SPOC for site level compliance related customer or any third party audits
  • Provides input and hosts site level Management Review meetings
  • Helps budget for any site level compliance needs/requirements
  • Ensures site level compliance with new and existing local/federal/regulatory requirements and follow up on any actions
  • Conducts site inspections with focus on requirements from local/regional/federal and Equinix requirements
  • Assists Data Centre Managers in the implementation of site level compliance policies and processes as per global requirements
  • Ensure that all the local statutory permits/approvals from authorities e.g. pollution board, electrical inspector office, local municipalities, state authorities are maintained and renewed in timely manner
  • Work to obtain the various applicable registration/certificate for Data centre and the relevant incentives (duty exemption, tax exemption)

Audits & Certifications

  • Manage internal and external audit planning across data centres for Operations Assurance & EHS and related standards, e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and other applicable certifications.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to schedule and track audits within the audit management system.
  • Conduct internal audits with a focus on Quality, Business continuity, Physical Security Controls, Environmental compliance and operational risk controls, identifying findings, key risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure the timely closure of audit findings, corrective and preventive actions are tracked and implemented effectively.
  • Monitor and report audit findings status, contributing to compliance and EHS performance reporting.
  • Partner with 1st Line of Defense to prepare for external audits, providing subject matter expertise (SME) and guidance as required.

Management Systems

  • Support the maintenance and ongoing development of Equinix’s Global Management Systems (GMS), with a focus on operational security controls, business continuity, environmental, health, and safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of various processes, procedures, and documentation across sites.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to site teams, ensuring effective implementation and adoption.
  • Ensure all compliance records are accurately maintained in local and global systems, including records related to audits, incidents, training, and regulatory requirements.

Program Management

  • Produce reports and dashboards to track compliance KPIs and performance metrics, including audit readiness, findings closure, and risk trends.
  • Manage and track audit and compliance program activities, including follow-up with COE/CFE teams on open findings and action items.
  • Identify areas for improvement in operation performance, compliance processes, and risk management practices, and participate in improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Support cross-functional compliance and EHS programs to enhance operational effectiveness and regulatory alignment.

Training

  • Track and report completion of mandatory EHS and compliance training, escalating risks where completion rates fall below expectations.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to develop and improve training programs, awareness initiatives, and learning materials.
  • Deliver overview training for 1st Line of Defense on compliance processes, EHS requirements, and management systems.

Support

  • Act as a primary point of contact and SME for 1st Line of Defense and stakeholders on various compliance-related matters, including regulatory requirements and audit readiness.
  • Support customer audits, as well as RFI/RFP requests related to operation excellence, business continuity, operational security controls, EHS, sustainability, and compliance practices.
  • Provide support across Global Operations Compliance activities, including participation in cross-functional projects involving safety, environmental performance, or regulatory compliance.
  • Identify potential EHS and regulatory risks, proactively raising concerns and recommending mitigation actions.
  • Communicate risks in a timely and structured manner to management and relevant stakeholders.

Support on Regulatory Compliance

  • Support the Equinix SPOC in various compliance requirement related to the Department of Telecommunications
  • Support in collating and preparation of various reports and returns
  • Support the SPOC in preparation of the site for the annual audit/inspection and manage the post audit/inspection requirement
  • Support in monitoring and tracking of the compliance checklist for various licenses/authorizations Prepares reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
  • Familiarize himself/herself with the various license conditions and track the DoT site for any new updates/amendments
  • Interact with various internal teams regarding any non-compliant findings, highlight the same to the Equinix SPOC, management and track the redressal of such non-compliant issue

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across operations, compliance, and EHS teams.8+ year of Experience working in EHS, compliance, or management systems environments, preferably within data centres, critical infrastructure, or industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and/or related EHS and compliance frameworks is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a related field preferred (e.g. Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, Compliance, or similar).
  • Previous experience in internal auditing is desirable.
  • Certified ISO Lead implementor or Auditor or equivalent certifications are an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
