Job Summary
The Director, xScale Direct Tax Compliance will lead the global direct tax compliance function for the xScale joint ventures. This role is responsible for all direct tax compliance, tax reporting, and related governance activities across the xScale platform, currently comprising eight global joint ventures and numerous legal entities, with continued expansion expected through new JV formations and acquisitions.
The role requires a highly experienced tax professional with deep expertise in ASC 740 / US GAAP tax accounting and related income tax provision processes, as well as extensive experience managing multinational tax compliance and statutory reporting obligations. The successful candidate will lead a team of tax professionals and oversee external advisors, drive process improvement and automation initiatives, and serve as the primary tax reporting leader for xScale's rapidly growing global business.
This position will partner closely with xScale Controllership, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, and M&A teams as well as external tax advisors and auditors to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance and reporting across all xScale entities.
Responsibilities
Global Direct Tax Compliance
Lead all direct tax compliance activities across existing and future xScale joint ventures
Oversee global tax filing calendars and ensure timely filing of all tax returns and related reporting obligations
Manage relationships with external service providers and advisors, including Big Four firms and local tax advisors
Perform secondary review of significant tax filings, elections, supporting schedules, and tax positions
Coordinate tax audit responses and resolution of tax authority inquiries
Establish scalable compliance processes capable of supporting rapid growth in JV count, legal entities, and geographic footprint
Tax Reporting & Provision Leadership
Lead all aspects of quarterly and annual income tax accounting under ASC 740
Oversee the preparation of and perform technical review of tax provisions for JV group financial statements and local statutory financial statements
Manage current and deferred tax accounting, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, return-to-provision analyses, and tax disclosures
Serve as primary tax reporting lead for all matters with external auditors
Develop and maintain standardized tax provision processes and documentation
Ensure consistency and quality of tax accounting across multiple jurisdictions and reporting frameworks
Prepare and review technical memoranda supporting significant tax accounting positions
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax managers and senior analysts, and coordinate effectively and proactively with external advisors
Establish clear accountability, review processes, and development plans across the team
Build organizational capability in tax compliance and provision matters
Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and operational discipline
Drive training initiatives to improve tax technical knowledge and tax accounting expertise across the organization
Strategic Business Partnership
Partner with xScale Controllership, Treasury, Legal, FP&A and M&A teams on the tax compliance and reporting implications of new JV formations, capital transactions, acquisitions, monetizations, refinancings, and restructurings
Provide tax accounting and reporting support for significant business transactions
Support tax due diligence activities related to acquisitions, monetizations, and investor transactions
Ensure tax implications are appropriately reflected in both financial reporting and compliance processes
Process Improvement & Governance
Drive standardization, automation, and scalability across global tax compliance and tax reporting processes
Enhance tax provision workflows, reporting templates, controls, and documentation
Leverage technology and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency and reduce risk
Develop operating procedures and governance frameworks to support growth of the xScale platform
Continuously improve quality, consistency, and timeliness of tax deliverables
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional qualification
10+ years of progressive tax compliance experience
Deep expertise in ASC 740 / US GAAP tax accounting and related tax provision processes
Strong technical background in corporate income tax and multinational direct tax
Extensive experience managing multinational income tax compliance
Proven experience leading high-performing tax teams
Experience working directly with external auditors and tax advisors
Ability to manage large volumes of work, establish priorities, and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Experience with joint venture structures and partnership taxation
Familiarity with IFRS tax accounting as well as local statutory tax reporting requirements across EMEA and APAC jurisdictions
Experience supporting acquisitions, restructurings, and large-scale international expansion initiatives
Big Four public accounting background

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual
United States - Tampa Office TAO : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
