People Spotlight: Alison Clark, Senior Director, Field Marketing

Aug 11 2026

In this edition of People Spotlight, we speak with Alison Clark—Senior Director, EMEA Field Marketing—to gain an inside peek into field marketing at Equinix. With nearly 11 years at the company, Alison has built a career at the intersection of commercial thinking and customer-centric marketing. Beyond driving campaigns, Alison ensures that every marketing investment drives measurable revenue impact, bridges the buyer and seller journeys and keeps the customer at the center.

A grounded routine

Alison starts most mornings the same way: a workout, followed by coffee, before her day really begins. It’s a routine she has kept, even as her role has expanded across multiple regions and teams.

By the time she logs on, she is already thinking about how to stay connected across time zones and keep her team aligned.  “It comes down to strong relationships and regular check-ins,” she says. “And being really clear on priorities so everyone feels aligned, even when we’re not in the same room.”

What the work looks like

When asked what a “full” day looks like, the first thing she will tell you is that no two days are the same. The mix of responsibilities is what keeps the role interesting.

Alison leans in daily to coach her team, help solve challenges, and remove obstacles that get in the way. One moment, she's working closely with her team. Next, she's discussing long-term strategy and what's happening in the pipeline. Afterward, you can find her reviewing performance and marketing impact.

“A full day means juggling a mix of strategic conversations, pipeline reviews, and helping the team solve problems,” she explains. Across all of it, one priority remains the same: deciding where to invest effort.

“Ultimately, it’s about focusing on where we can have the greatest revenue impact,” she says. That balance between long-term direction and real-time problem-solving is what keeps the role moving.

How field marketing connects to the business

“Field marketing at Equinix is tightly aligned to the business, designing marketing plays that bridge the buyer and seller journey to drive impact,” Alison explains. The work starts with understanding what’s happening in the market, what customers need, and where sales teams are focusing. From there, those insights are translated into programs that move those priorities forward in a meaningful way. “We focus on understanding customer needs, market dynamics, and sales priorities, then translating that into programs and activities that drive pipeline, accelerate deals, and strengthen long-term customer relationships,” she says.

It’s grounded, practical work, and it shows up in how deals progress, how accounts grow, and how closely marketing stays connected to the business. What is the goal at the center of it all? “Always revenue impact, keeping the customer at the core of everything we do,” says Alison.

Working across teams

Very little of this work happens in isolation. Alison spends a significant part of her time working with Sales, Customer Success, Global Marketing, and managing directors and other regional leaders. The conversations are ongoing. Priorities shift. Plans adjust. “The best results come from when we plan and work together, sharing insights and reacting quickly to what’s happening in the market,” she says. That constant back-and-forth shapes how programs are built and how quickly they can respond to change. It also means marketing stays close to the reality of the business, rather than operating at a distance. That collaboration ensures our programs are relevant, timely, and measurable, while helping the team solve real customer problems together.

The culture behind the work

For Alison, the way the team works together is just as important as the work itself. “I’d describe the culture as supportive, collaborative, and quietly ambitious,” she says. There’s a shared focus on doing great work, but also a genuine willingness to step in and support each other when it counts. Accountability is part of the day-to-day, balanced with trust and a sense that no one is working in isolation. “People really care about what they’re building, but they also care about each other,” she adds.

That trust carries through into how the role is structured.

“Flexibility means being trusted to manage my time in a way that works for both work and life,” Alison explains. In a role that moves quickly and stays close to the business, that level of trust makes a difference. It creates space to stay focused, sustain the pace, and keep showing up with energy over time. For Alison, that trust is one of the reasons she has continued to build her career at Equinix for nearly 11 years. It also shapes how marketing shows up in the organization.

“If you want to work somewhere where marketing genuinely has a seat at the table, Equinix is a great place to be,” she says. The work comes with visibility, expectation, and the chance to make a real impact, supported by a team that’s invested in getting there together.

Field marketing at Equinix sits at the center of how the business grows, connecting teams, translating insight into action and shaping how customers experience the brand. For Alison, that combination is what has kept the role engaging over time. It’s fast-moving, closely tied to outcomes, and built on collaboration. For those stepping into it, it’s a chance to do work that’s not only visible, but meaningful, both for the business and for the customers it serves.
