The European Union has made addressing climate change one of its top priorities. At the same time, European leaders also understand the importance of promoting energy security and growing the green economy. This is why the European Green Deal not only calls for “no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050” but also “economic growth decoupled from resource use.” The latter point speaks to the scope of the challenge ahead of us.
