Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Facilities Engineer to support and enhance the reliability of our mission-critical infrastructure. This role is responsible for performing advanced preventative and corrective maintenance, leading complex troubleshooting efforts, and contributing to the development of improved operational procedures.

You’ll work independently on high-impact assignments while collaborating closely with the broader operations team to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and efficiency across all building systems.

Responsibilities

Critical Infrastructure & Maintenance

  • Perform advanced preventative and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems

  • Execute complex repairs, installations, and infrastructure upgrades

  • Monitor and respond to alarms within the Building Monitoring System (BMS)

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day critical infrastructure operations

  • Inspect and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems

  • Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommend mitigation strategies

  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Support life-cycle and end-of-life infrastructure projects, including scope development

  • Implement energy efficiency initiatives and recommend system improvements

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Support vendor selection for outsourced maintenance activities

  • Direct vendors to ensure work is completed to standards and safety requirements

  • Develop maintenance scripts and review Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation

  • Oversee work approval processes, including pre-work briefings and final inspections

  • Ensure technical documentation and equipment files are accurately updated

Incident Management & Site Operations

  • Respond to and support resolution of all on-site incidents, including critical events

  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations

  • Complete detailed site logs and permit documentation

  • Escalate operational risks or process gaps to management

  • Support adherence to operating procedures and safety standards

  • Assist in maintaining technical documentation and compliance records

Work Orders & Project Leadership

  • Complete complex work requests and circuit installations

  • Lead advanced troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime

  • Support capacity management reviews

  • Make directed modifications to mechanical and electrical systems

  • Lead or support infrastructure improvement projects

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues

  • Advise team members on repairs and preventative maintenance strategies

  • Coordinate cross-functional resources as needed

  • Manage inventory levels for critical spare parts

  • Support implementation of high-impact facility projects

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years of relevant facilities or critical infrastructure experience

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise

  • Experience working in mission-critical or high-availability environments

  • NFPA 70E qualification

  • CFC certification

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - DC14 Washington DC : 88,000 - 132,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
