At Equinix, we keep the world’s digital infrastructure running. Our data centres support the internet, cloud services and critical systems people rely on every day.

We’re now looking for future Critical Facilities Engineers to join us through our 2026 Operations Apprenticeship Programme in London. This is a paid, full‑time role where you’ll learn on the job, gain a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician qualification, and train over 4 years to become a qualified Critical Facilities Engineer.

No university degree needed – just curiosity, commitment and a desire to learn. Application at speed is suggested as the closing date for the role will be based on application numbers.

(For this role, you need to have the legal right to work in the UK. The college campus is London Design and Engineering UTC, 15 University Way, London E16 2RD, you must be able to travel to that site once per week. Our Equinix Data Centres in London are located at Park Royal (NW10 6PW) or the Harbour Exchange (E14 9GE), and you should be within a reasonable travelling distance and able to confirm your travel route before proceeding. There will be 2 roles available in Slough; however, you must demonstrate that the college is achievable from your home)

What you’ll be doing

As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers in our data centres, learning how to keep critical electrical and mechanical systems running safely and reliably.

You’ll gradually learn how to:

  • Support the maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Follow health, safety and environmental procedures every day
  • Inspect, test, maintain and repair plant and equipment
  • Read drawings, follow procedures and complete documentation
  • Work as part of a team in a live operational environment
  • Build problem‑solving skills and confidence on real equipment

Your apprenticeship training

You’ll complete the Engineering Maintenance Technician Level 3 apprenticeship, delivered by an accredited training provider and recognised by professional bodies including IMechE and IET.

  • Length: 4 years
  • Learning model: 4 days working at Equinix, 1 day training (hybrid delivery)
  • Qualification: Government‑recognised Level 3 Apprenticeship
  • Outcome: Progression into a Critical Facilities Engineer role

Across the four years you’ll progress through:

  • Year 1 – Foundations: basic engineering skills, safety and workshop learning
  • Year 2 – Pathway: mechanical and electrical principles
  • Year 3 – Advanced: fault finding, systems and diagnostics
  • Year 4 – Competence: independent problem solving and end‑point assessment
