Job Summary
The Physical Security Enablement IV supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of physical security systems within a mission-critical data center environment. This role applies strong technical knowledge and sound judgment to support security infrastructure, customer requirements, incident response, audits, and operational projects.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and site stakeholders, the role contributes to maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment while helping ensure a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
Work Orders
- Support security installations, de-installations, and customer security deployments.
- Manage non-standard customer security requests and custom orders, coordinating with internal teams and vendors as required.
- Track customer security ticketing requests and support reporting, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Assist senior team members with the development and distribution of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for security infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate auxiliary security equipment and support troubleshooting activities to minimize operational disruption and downtime.
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting of security-related equipment and systems where required.
Incident Management
- Respond to on-site security incidents and operational events, including security system failures, access control issues, and service disruptions.
- Support incident investigations, reporting, and root cause analysis activities.
- Apply knowledge of the security incident decision matrix and support incident declarations with the Equinix Operations Center (EOC).
- Coordinate with stakeholders on Internal Incident Reports (IIRs) and Post Incident Reports (PIRs) as required.
- Assist with the implementation of corrective actions and operational improvements resulting from incident reviews.
Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
- Support the operation and maintenance of physical security systems, including Access Control Systems (ACS) and Video Management Systems (VMS).
- Investigate and resolve security system faults, condition reports, and operational issues in accordance with site standards and procedures.
- Support preventive maintenance programs, system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities.
- Participate in customer-facing activities, including security audits, custom security requests, and cage build initiations.
- Coordinate security asset inventory and IP address management for security devices and infrastructure.
- Support security infrastructure projects and system enhancements that improve site security and operational effectiveness.
Vendor Management
- Coordinate vendor activities supporting customer security deployments and site security infrastructure.
- Support vendor work reviews and monitor activities to ensure compliance with site procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards.
- Work with site management teams and third-party auditors to support internal and external audit activities.
- Assist in maintaining documentation and records associated with security systems and vendor activities.
Site Administration
- Apply security procedures, operational standards, and quality controls to ensure security systems remain compliant and effective.
- Maintain and update security drawings, asset records, and site-specific documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance procedures, system effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Assist in ensuring security processes are consistently applied across the site.
Collaboration
- Partner with security stakeholders and operational teams to support maintenance activities, system upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate security activities that may impact facility operations, customer environments, or infrastructure deployments.
- Support cross-functional initiatives related to new builds, site expansions, and operational improvements.
- Share knowledge and provide operational support to colleagues and stakeholders when required.
- Contribute recommendations that improve security operations, infrastructure resilience, and customer experience.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 2–4 years of experience in physical security, data center operations, critical infrastructure, security systems, or a related technical environment.
