Job Summary
The Lead Sales Engineer leads complex technical sales engagements across key accounts and is accountable for driving the technical win. The role combines customer discovery, solution design, technical strategy, whiteboarding, stakeholder engagement and cross-functional leadership to align Equinix capabilities to customer business and technology outcomes.
This role requires the ability to engage confidently with customer stakeholders on network architecture, application architecture and physical infrastructure design, and to identify how those environments can be improved for better performance, resilience, scalability and security.
Responsibilities
Lead technical discovery, qualification and solutioning for strategic opportunities
Own the technical relationship with customers and act as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle
Understand customer business priorities, technical requirements, current-state architecture and target-state goals, then map them to Equinix solutions
Hold architecture-level discussions on network design, interconnection strategy and application environments, identifying opportunities for improvement and modernization
Design end-to-end solutions spanning data center, interconnection, cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments
Lead customer meetings, technical workshops, whiteboarding sessions and executive-level discussions with clarity and authority
Support complex RFIs, RFPs, quoting, technical documentation and customer deliverables
Influence internal stakeholders across sales, operations, capacity, customer success and other teams to support effective opportunity execution
Mentor other Sales Engineers and contribute to best practices, knowledge sharing and broader Solutions Engineering development
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering discipline
Proven years, in technical sales, pre-sales or solutions engineering, ideally in data center, cloud, networking or telecommunications environments
Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, interconnection, network modernization and hybrid cloud architectures
Ability to discuss customer network architecture and application architecture in a credible, consultative way and recommend practical improvements
Proven success leading complex customer engagements and influencing technical and business stakeholders
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-changing environment
Strong English written and verbal communication skills
