Data scientists design and deploy statistical, forecasting and machine learning solutions to solve complex business problems. You’ll build models that improve planning and decision making, generate actionable insights for stakeholders and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver production ready outcomes.
A core focus is forecasting and prediction. For example, data scientists examine demand, capacity and trend analysis, using time series and probabilistic methods. This includes machine learning solutions for things like energy-efficiency optimization across hundreds of data centers, improving power and cooling management and developing models that help internal teams operate more efficiently, from capacity planning to automation and decision support. You’ll translate these models into practical insights and tools that business and operations teams can use day to day. At Equinix, this work operates at global scale, supporting decisions across 281 data centers in 77 markets and 36 countries.
Strong foundations in statistics and machine learning are essential, including experience with time series analysis and probabilistic forecasting.
You’ll need to be comfortable working with large datasets using tools like Python and SQL, and you’ll need familiarity with common libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch or TensorFlow. Experience building, deploying and monitoring production models is also important.
Many roles require exposure to cloud environments (for example, Google Cloud Platform) and the ability to translate model outputs and uncertainty into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
Data science work is cross‑functional by design: You partner with product managers, engineers and business teams to define the problem, identify data requirements, build solutions, and deliver insights that inform planning and decisions at scale.
