Job Summary
Equinix seeks a Legal Counsel to support its portfolio of litigation, external investigation, and dispute resolution matters at a pivotal point in the company’s growth and visibility. This role will be part of a global litigation team but expected primarily to manage cases in the U.S. and Canada across diverse commercial, employment, real estate, government enforcement, injury, intellectual property, and other subject areas. The Legal Counsel also will assist with responses to law enforcement and third-party subpoenas.
Candidates ideally will be based in Dallas, Denver, Tampa, or Miami, although we may be able to consider placements in other U.S. cities where we have office locations. Equinix follows a hybrid work policy requiring in-office attendance a minimum of two days per week.
Responsibilities
Hands-on case management at all stages of litigation and investigation, including developing overall strategy, assessing and quantifying liability, reviewing or drafting filings, preparing witness testimony, and negotiating settlements as appropriate
Supporting or managing discovery in assigned matters, including by handling legal holds, written discovery responses, third-party subpoenas, depositions, and document collection and production efforts
Selecting and managing outside counsel, reviewing external budgets and billing, and supporting internal cost management and RFP initiatives
Communicating efficiently and effectively with stakeholders in the legal department and throughout the company
Navigating competing workflows, setting appropriate priorities with internal clients and outside counsel, and delivering results within agreed timelines
Contributing to thought leadership on litigation and investigation best practices, including with respect to eDiscovery management, enforcement trends, and risk assessments
Exercising mature and reliable business judgment, balancing risks to the enterprise against scalability and practical concerns
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
2-4 years of relevant law firm, government, or in-house experience working on litigation and investigation matters
Active bar membership or the ability to obtain immediate in-house qualification to practice in the relevant hiring location
Strong communication, project leadership, and organizational skills
Experience with large-scale eDiscovery
Demonstrated ability to manage a complex, fast-paced workload and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
Willingness to develop new areas of expertise and pitch in on a wide variety of projects to support a lean, collegial legal team
Judicial clerkship experience is a plus
Experience with data centers/telecommunications services is a plus

United States - Denver Office DEO : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual
United States - MI1 Miami : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual
United States - Tampa Office TAO : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
