Job Summary

The Software Development Eng Sr. Staff (Expert level) has wide ranging expert experience at resolving complex software development engineering applications issues. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Is an individual contributor level that does not lead other employees or teams. 

Responsibilities

Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex software systems engineering issues in creative and effective ways. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

Dealing with Ambiguity

• Defines the technical strategy

• Works with product stakeholders to provide clarity when faced with ambiguous requirements

• Able to context switch between multiple tasks within the Product

Process

• Drives major improvements to the teams' speed of delivery

• Thinks on behalf of customers in diving deep into the root cause of complex system engineering issues while also proposing solutions and opportunities for improvement

Scope and Impact

• Owns the design and architecture of the teams'  software systems

• Owns quality goals of the teams' systems

Leadership

• Owns customer KPIs and quality metrics of the teams' systems

• Collaborates with team members and influences cross-functional stakeholders on complex software development design  

• Is an expert in one or more technical domain areas; mentors junior engineers

• Acts as an owner; thinks on behalf of customers

• Able to navigate complex challenges faced in achieving goals

• Views complex problems as opportunities and proposes solutions

• Mentors senior engineers

Skillset

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure solutions using React for UI and Spring Boot for backend services

• Build and optimize data models and persistence layers using PostgreSQL

• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient deployments

• Design, deploy, and support applications on AWS, leveraging cloud-native tools and technologies

• Ensure code quality, performance, security, and adherence to engineering best practices

• Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams

• Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews and technical discussions

Required Technical Skills

• Strong experience with React (UI development)

• Solid backend development experience using Spring Boot

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

• Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools

• Good working knowledge of AWS cloud platform and related services

• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and application monitoring

Soft Skills & Competencies

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines

• Ability to provide technical direction and influence design decisions

• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

• Several years of hands-on experience in full‑stack application development

• Experience operating in an enterprise or large-scale distributed systems environment is a plus
