Under Global leadership, the Category Manager manages multiple and complex categories for Major Capital Equipment (MCE), with cross-functional and regionally diverse scope.
Accountable for building and creating the category plan and managing the plan closely with leadership.
Job Summary
Manages multiple Electrical categories with cross-functional and regionally diverse teams up to executive staff. Accountable for driving end‑to‑end category management, supplier strategy, and capacity planning to support multi‑site data center expansion. May participate in the development of the business strategy while impacting business direction through the development of innovative strategies or services.
Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Sourcing
Develop and execute global category strategies for Electrical Equipment (RPP, PDU and Medium voltage Transformers)
Create region‑specific sourcing strategies aligned with build plans and technology needs.
Develops, communicates and executes against consistent global procurement strategies and best practices.
Monitors and maintains full industry and market knowledge of category, suppliers, best practices, competitive landscape.
Supplier Management
Lead the full source‑to‑contract process, including market analysis, GRFP management, negotiations, and contract execution.
Build strategic partnerships to support scale, competitiveness, innovation, and long‑term capacity.
Educates suppliers on the mechanics of doing business with Equinix.
Identify and mitigate supply and execution risks.
Acts as point of escalation for suppliers when needed.
Supplier alignment with execution plan
Integrate demand forecasts and build schedules into sourcing and supplier capacity plans.
Align with construction, engineering, and program teams to support on‑time, cost‑effective delivery.
Contract Management
Works with business partners to develop and agree SOW, business and commercial requirements.
Negotiates contract details with suppliers (assure that for the full contractual framework is in place with all suppliers).
Spend Governance and Analytics
Manage category spend analytics, forecasting, and cost modelling.
Aligns with internal customers to define optimal negotiation positions while delivering cost savings opportunities and providing stakeholders with a balanced view of contract risks and liabilities.
Directly engages suppliers at the appropriate levels to influence the best outcome for Equinix that exceeds the business requirements.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
Partner with engineering, construction, finance, legal, and operations teams.
Operate effectively in complex, multi‑entity environments.
Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred), supply chain, Construction, Business, or related field.
10+ years in category management, procurement, or supply chain leadership.
Experience with international, project‑based or data centre programmes.
Strong commercial, analytical, and communication skills.
Familiarity with contracting and global, matrixed organizations.
