Internship Role Profile: Logistics Intern (6 Months)

Purpose of the Internship
This internship is designed to provide a student with practical, hands-on experience in logistics operations within a dynamic environment. The role supports academic learning by offering exposure to real-world processes, teamwork, and problem-solving, while encouraging proactive engagement and skill development.

Key Objectives

  • Gain practical knowledge of logistics processes and systems.
  • Develop organisational and communication skills through team collaboration.
  • Understand and apply standard operating procedures in a professional setting.
  • Build confidence in handling routine tasks and gradually take ownership under guidance.

Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Acquire job skills and understand company policies and procedures.
  • Shadow experienced team members to learn best practices in shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
  • Participate in regular feedback sessions to track progress and identify learning opportunities.

Operational Support

  • Assist with coordinating small to medium deliveries and maintaining accurate records/logs.
  • Support the team in resolving basic shipping or receiving issues under supervision.
  • Help update documentation and systems for inbound/outbound shipments.

Hands-On Activities

  • Inspect received goods and report any discrepancies.
  • Use logistics tools such as shipment dashboards to track deliveries.
  • Assist with handling and storage of hazardous materials following safety protocols.
  • Support removal/disposal of customer equipment from data centre cages under guidance.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate proactively with internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Contribute ideas and observations during team meetings to enhance processes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the student will:

  • Understand the end-to-end logistics workflow in a professional environment.
  • Gain proficiency in using logistics systems and tools.
  • Develop problem-solving skills for routine operational challenges.
  • Build teamwork and communication skills essential for future roles.

Supervision & Support

  • Intern will work under close supervision with detailed instructions provided initially.
  • Regular mentoring sessions will be scheduled to support learning and career development.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant academic programme (e.g., Supply Chain, Business, Operations).
  • Strong willingness to learn and contribute proactively.
  • Basic computer literacy and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
