Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Critical Facilities Engineer with a strong understanding of data center infrastructure and facility operations. This role involves moderately complex engineering tasks requiring sound judgment, technical expertise, and adherence to standard operating procedures. The engineer will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical systems while supporting the broader operations team.

Responsibilities

Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems and components.

  • Conduct repairs, installations, and inspections of mechanical and electrical infrastructure, supporting energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Monitor and respond to alarms via the Building Monitoring System (BMS), resolving issues using established procedures.

  • Operate and maintain critical infrastructure - electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, etc.

  • Work independently on routine engineering tasks, with general instructions provided for new assignments.

Vendor Coordination

  • Support the work approval process for service providers, including briefing at the start of work, monitoring, and reviewing maintenance activities.

  • Ensure vendor work complies with company standards and procedures.

  • Collaborate with vendors to update technical documentation and ensure accuracy of plant and equipment records.

Site Administration & Incident Response

  • Maintain site logs and documentation for permits, including Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts.

  • Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and provide recommendations for mitigation.

  • Respond to on-site incidents such as equipment failures, delays, and operational issues.

  • Apply procedural knowledge to support administrative tasks and incident resolution.

Work Orders & Projects

  • Complete routine work requests and circuit installations.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain critical infrastructure to minimize downtime.

  • Implement minor changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.

  • Participate in infrastructure upgrade and improvement projects.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members to resolve facility-related incidents.

  • Work effectively within the department and may mentor junior staff on maintenance and engineering activities.

  • Communicate inventory needs to ensure availability of critical parts and equipment.

  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for infrastructure enhancements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or engineering coursework preferred.

  • Proven years of relevant experience in critical facility or critical environment maintenance.

  • Proficient in using Maximo or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Comfortable working with Building Monitoring Systems (BMS) and other facility management tools.

  • Proficient in using computer technology for documentation, reporting, and communication.
