Job Summary

Equinix is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our global legal organization. This position will provide transactional support for the company’s customer facing and supplier facing business units, with a focus on data center and colocation services. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and closing agreements while balancing legal risk with business objectives.

This role requires a proactive, business-oriented attorney who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and can partner effectively with internal stakeholders across Sales, Channel Sales, Public Sector Sales, Enterprise Sales, Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Risk Management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts relating to Equinix's data center service agreements, channel partner contracts, public sector contracts

  • Provide timely and strategic legal advice to Sales and Business teams to facilitate revenue-generating transactions consistent with company policy and risk tolerance

  • Collaborate closely with and obtain approvals where required from cross-functional departments (e.g., Operations, Product, Finance, and Compliance) to ensure contractual obligations align with operational deliverables and internal governance frameworks

  • Advise on regulatory and compliance issues affecting data center operations, including data protection, cybersecurity, and international business activities

  • Help develop and maintain legal process improvements to support scalability and operational efficiency

  • Support the escalation and approval processes for high-value transactions. Responsible for liaising with customer representatives or sales to resolve any issues or disputes and on any other customer contract related issues as may arise or be assigned by Senior Director. To coordinate all efforts with the Senior Legal Counsel or others as assigned by Senior Director

  • Leads occasional audit and reconciliation projects

  • Partner with other members of the Legal Department on cross-functional matters, including corporate governance, vendor management, and global expansion initiatives

  • Understand, adhere to, and promote company ethics and compliance policies

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and business enablement within the legal function

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution/recognized university

  • 10 + years of progressively responsible legal experience, including in-house experience within the data center, technology infrastructure, or related industry sectors. Preferably with good experience in a law firm. Admission to practice at a bar.

  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial contract law with strong negotiation and drafting skills

  • Proven ability to assess legal and business risks and deliver practical, solution-oriented advice in a fast-paced environment

  • Articulate, exceptional communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills

  • Established record of cross-functional collaboration with diverse business teams Competent, engaged, accurate, resourceful, independent, organised, able to prioritise, an effective time manager and being able to work in a team are important skills. Prepared to use technology including a contracts management system

Preferred Experience

  • Direct exposure to colocation, interconnection, cloud infrastructure, or managed services models

  • Experience supporting international sales and cross-border contract matters

  • Working knowledge of global data protection and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) relevant to data center operations
