Reporting to Equinix’s President of the Americas, the Vice President of Corporate Development will oversee Equinix’s AMER Corporate Development Team and is responsible for all deal activities related to regional strategy, mergers and acquisitions, real estate location strategy and strategic investments. This executive will partner cross-functionally, working with functional leaders, to ensure timely execution of our M&A, real estate investments and capital planning projects.
The VP Corporate Development & Strategy will drive revenue and AFFO growth for the Americas region through: Mergers & acquisitions, establishing and leading strategy and deal execution for the region; Managing the regional capex budget, establishing metro-strategy and optimizing data center development plans within them; and driving the Americas strategic planning process and related execution of projects that support realizing regional OKRs.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Development
Leads annual strategic planning process in conjunction with Regional and Corp teams
Approves strategy/business case development and sponsors at the Executive Level
Strategic Planning & Development
Partner with EVP, GTM leadership and Functional Leadership Teams & cross functional peers to translate Equinix Enterprise Strategy into a GTM roadmap, set of initiatives/business cases to deliver value for Equinix’s customers
Engage with company leaders to obtain buy-in for cross-functional projects, including planned outcomes, strategic narratives and linkages to enterprise strategy
Create storyboards and present to Company leaders on key initiatives
Analyze and provide insights into market extension opportunities (e.g., new services, solutions and business models)
Lead the annual strategic planning process in conjunction with key stakeholders
Investment Management and Optimization
Sets direction and strategy for data center development pipeline, managing and prioritizing regional capex budget
Sets metro real estate strategies and optimizes data center development plans within metros
Oversees all regional real estate location strategy
Underwrites and secures management and board approval for capital expansions
Represents investment proposals to executive management
Mergers and Acquisitions
Establishes and leads M&A strategy for the region
Sources and analyzes accretive acquisition and partnership opportunities for the region
Leads negotiations (with support from legal team) for M&A transactions
Represents and drives deal approvals at the Senior Exec and Board Level
Lead a diverse team, creating an inclusive culture
Shape a collaborative, transparent, and entrepreneurial culture
Motivate employees around shared vision
Qualifications
Substantial experience in general management, investment banking, corporate development or management consulting
Track record of M&A is helpful, including experience over a broad range of deal sizes (<$10M and >$500M)
Ideally has knowledge of the retail data center business and data center business regionally and globally
Proven ability to see the ‘bigger long-term picture’ and think strategically while achieving short-term results
Ability to determine and present clear strategic direction for inorganic and organic deals
Inspirational leader with strong collaboration skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally with diverse business unit leaders
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
Ability to work with senior executives across a matrixed organization
Proactive, collaborative, and able to work comfortably in a non-hierarchical context
The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 272,000 - 408,000 USD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
