Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Global Benefits Solutions is responsible for the strategy and design of how Equinix's benefits programs are built, configured, and delivered through technology. Sitting within the Global Benefits Centre of Excellence, this role owns the end-to-end design of how benefits interact with systems, from eligibility rules and enrollment logic to data flows and configuration standards, across a 38-country footprint.

This is not a platform management role. It is a benefits system design and strategy role. The Senior Manager defines how benefits should work within systems like Equinix Benefits, Workday, and recognition platforms, setting the design standard, driving implementation, and ensuring that what employees experience matches what was intended.

The role provides senior input into platform decisions, annual change cycles, and cross-functional technology strategy, and acts as the primary benefits design voice in all HR technology conversations.

The role requires someone who understands both the benefits landscape and the systems that enable it, someone who can translate complex program requirements into scalable, compliant system design, and who has the judgment to govern risk, challenge vendors, and make sound trade-off decisions at enterprise scale.

Reporting – Senior Director, Global Benefits, Wellbeing & Recognition

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

The role carries accountability across five core areas:

Benefits System Design & Configuration Standards

  • Own the strategy and design standard for how benefits programs are configured across all platforms, defining eligibility rules, enrollment logic, data flows, and end-to-end process design across all countries
  • Ensure configuration decisions are intentional, consistent, and aligned with global program design principles, not inherited defaults or regional workarounds
  • Take design ownership when new programs, plan changes, or country expansions require system configuration decisions
  • Translate benefits program requirements into clear system design specifications for HRIT, vendor, and implementation teams
  • Maintain a living design documentation library that captures configuration standards, decision rationale, and country-level variation rules

Global Benefits Platforms Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the global roadmap for benefits administration platforms, including Equinix Benefits and vendor solutions (e.g. PlanSource, Darwin, Benifex), defining priorities, sequencing, and phasing of platform enhancements, implementations, and annual change cycles
  • Balance business needs, system constraints, risk, and capacity to drive effective platform decision-making
  • Anticipate and plan for emerging technology requirements, ensuring the platforms roadmap supports future benefits strategy and global scaling needs
  • Coordinate with HRIT, People Experience, and Payroll on implementation and annual review activity, acting as the senior owner for benefits systems outcomes across regions

Governance, Risk & Release Oversight

  • Establish and oversee governance frameworks for benefits systems, including change control, release management, and risk mitigation
  • Own readiness decision-making for major releases, implementations, and annual enrollment, ensuring testing standards and controls are consistently applied across platforms
  • Proactively identify and manage system, data, and operational risks before they reach employees or create compliance exposure

Workday & HR Technology Leadership

  • Serve as the senior benefits design lead for Workday implementations, enhancements, and integrations, defining how benefits requirements are translated into system configuration, not just flagging issues after the fact
  • Partner with HRIT leadership to align benefits design requirements with the broader HR technology strategy and multi-year systems roadmap
  • Ensure data integrity, eligibility accuracy, and payroll-adjacent controls are maintained across all integrated systems

Recognition Program Oversight & Vendor Strategy

  • Own the strategy, governance, and evolution of Equinix's global recognition programs, including vendor strategy, platform design, and performance management
  • Ensure recognition platforms are designed and configured to meet program objectives, scalable globally, and operationally effective across regions
  • Own strategic vendor relationships across benefits platforms and recognition providers, setting expectations, managing escalations, and holding partners accountable for delivery
  • Act as the senior point of contact for Benefits systems matters with HR, Finance, IT, and regional leaders

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • CEBS designation or equivalent professional certification preferred

Experience

  • 15+ experience leading global HR or benefits systems programs in complex, multi-country environments, with a strong focus on system design and strategy
  • Deep expertise in benefits administration platforms and how benefits programs are configured within them, including hands-on experience with platforms such as PlanSource, Darwin, Benifex, or equivalents
  • Strong experience partnering with Workday and HRIS teams on integrations and system changes, with the ability to define and defend benefits design requirements in technical forums
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing recognition or rewards platforms, including vendor governance and program performance management
  • Proven ability to manage risk, prioritize work, and make trade-off decisions at an enterprise level, comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Strong stakeholder influence and vendor management capability, able to hold senior partners accountable and build alignment across functions without formal authority
  • Experience working within a global COE model, balancing central design governance with the operational realities of regional deployment

Skills and Attributes

  • Strategic Design Ownership - Thinks upstream. Focused on how benefits should be designed and built to work in systems, not just whether systems are running. Brings intentionality to configuration decisions and sets a standard others can build on
  • Strong Judgment and Prioritization - Makes clear decisions in complex, high-change environments. Able to weigh risk, business need, and capacity simultaneously and land on the right call without over-engineering the analysis
  • Risk-Aware and Detail-Conscious - Balances speed with control and accuracy. Catches design and configuration issues early, and doesn't let urgency become a reason to compromise quality or governance
  • Executive Presence - Credible and confident with senior HR, IT, Finance, and vendor leadership. Communicates platform strategy and design decisions clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Technically Fluent, Strategically Minded, deep enough in the technology to challenge vendors and make sound design decisions, but able to zoom out and connect systems work to broader benefits strategy and business outcomes
  • Resilient and Decisive - Manages pressure and ambiguity without escalation dependency. Stays composed through high-stakes release cycles and competing demands, and keeps work moving
