Job summary:
The APAC Director, Physical Security Enablement is a strategic leader that oversees the Equinix Physical Security Enablement organization and Physical security program. They will anticipate high-impact physical security issues within the Operations and Security teams and leads the development of strategies for mitigation.
In a leadership role managing a team across the APAC region, the role will also be required to budget and forecast global operational security training & documentation needs, utilizing expert industry knowledge and best practices. Collaboration with global and regional leaders to develop and implement the operational physical security strategy and systems roadmap will be key to success.
Key responsibilities:
Processes
- Oversee physical security program and strategy, and is a key contributor to global physical security initiatives, business continuity process rollouts, and process development
- Collaborates on the strategic global development of the Data Centre operational strategy with other global, cross-functional thought leaders, and leads implementation of strategy
Project Management
- Develops and leads global regional plans.
- Provides executive-level reporting and readouts on project statuses
- Oversees team that manages a portfolio of security projects, clear objectives, timelines and metrics for success, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget clear objectives, timelines and metrics for success, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget
- Leads cross-functional, global teams in developing and deploying implementation strategies for high-impact programs (e.g., global access management)
- Reviews and provides guidance as needed on project scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks
Data Centre Enablement
- Manages department resources and budget.
- Sets and monitors key performance indicator goals at a global regional level and oversees global Operations Security & Compliance
- Partners with Global Physical Security and other Regional Physical Security teams, as well as local Data Center Operations teams to ensure physical security program alignment and overall security of critical infrastructure
Systems Support
- Possesses expert knowledge of security systems
- Identifies faults and provides recommendations for new procedures and systems
- Oversees the and coordinates the and management of Single Point of Failure (SPOF) and End of Life (EOL) reviews, including site physicals, assessments and remediation activities
- Responsible for vendor and manufacture relationships, escalation of systems errors and failures
Training
- Leads and champions recommendations for best practices
- Seen as an expert in industry-related knowledge
- Leads the development of industry knowledge and best security practices within the business
People Management
- Provides leadership and guidance and manages the Regional Security teams, including vendor management, performance results and strategy for improvement through individual and team meetings, as well as skip levels
- Develops and motivates team members, drives results within the team, perform analysis of employee feedback and create/implement action plans to drive improved results
- Directs team to work effectively and manages personnel details to include salaries, career growth, positioning, regular reviews, coaching and development
- Direct and reviews workload, staffing and leverage innovation to scale for future growth
- Build, lead and mentor a high performing, geographically diverse team of physical security professionals
- Set clear goals and performance expectations through a compelling vision and personal example
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, making sure all team members stay aligned and motivated under common objectives
- Ability to allocate resources effectively, and evolve the security organizational structure to meet dynamic business needs
Design Engineering
- Leads new design methods and standards for new Data Centre design engineering efforts
- Leads and provides guidance to other employees within the job family
- Leads recommendations for alterations to design, development, implementation and analysis to improve quality of products, new technologies, procedures, and/or efficiencies
- Provides drawing reviews of both internal and cross-functional designs
- Oversees team responsible for the design, delivery, and commissioning of data center security systems
Qualifications, keys skills and requirements:
- The role will include direct liaison with Australian Government Departments and customers who serve the Australian Government. As such the candidate must hold an NV1 security clearance or have the ability to attain one.
- Bachelor’s degree in management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
- Proven experience in physical security leadership roles
- Proven success managing large-scale security programs and complex projects
- Certification with a major security system manufacturer
- Data Centre/mission critical physical security experience highly advantageous
- Strong leadership qualities and people manager experience
- Cyber security experience would be advantageous, however not necessary
- Ability to work with stakeholders globally and regionally
