Apprenticeships at Equinix

août 11 2025

Opportunity doesn’t just happen—it’s created. Across Europe, young people are stepping into the world of digital infrastructure through apprenticeships that offer more than just training but also transformation.

These experiences go beyond internships. They’re transformative journeys. And the best way to understand their impact is through the voices of those who’ve lived them.

Holly Byrne Nugent from Ireland

Holly’s journey began with a love for the television show “How It’s Made” and the support of a teacher who saw her potential. Now in her third year of an electrical apprenticeship at Ballyfermot Training Centre, she’s using her voice and her platform on TikTok to inspire other young women to follow her path.

“There was nothing calling me to this career until someone believed in me. Now I want to be that person for someone else.”

Holly is a semifinalist in the Screwfix Trade Apprentice competition, chosen from over 2,200 applicants. Her story is about more than just breaking into a male-dominated field—it’s about breaking the mold entirely.

Krzysztof Kamiński from Poland

Gareth Morgan-Lloyd - Supervisor, Customer Operations - has been part of the Slough data center team for 13 years. He values the open, empathetic culture and the trust placed in employees.

“With multiple departments, there have always been opportunities to explore different avenues. Having a manager who trusts you and working from your own merits make a big difference.”

Gareth’s experience during the Telecity acquisition, when he worked with teams across Europe while based in Slough, highlights how the campus connects people across borders and functions.

Kyla Small from the UK

Kyla knew early on that she didn’t want a desk job. With family experience in the data center industry, she was drawn to the practical, fast-paced world of critical infrastructure. When she joined Equinix as a Critical Facilities apprentice, she found an enriching role on a team that believed in her.

“I’ve been involved in real projects from the start. One of my proudest moments was contributing to a reception upgrade project. Seeing all the pieces come together and knowing I played a part—it was incredibly rewarding.”

Kyla’s journey is a testament to what happens when young women are given the tools, trust and mentorship to thrive in technical roles. She’s now building the skills to maintain the digital infrastructure that powers our world, and she’s just getting started.

Amil Hrnčić from Germany

Amil’s journey began with a referral from a family member. He joined Equinix Germany as an apprentice and quickly found his footing. Despite the challenges of Germany’s rigorous exams, Amil excelled and transitioned into a full-time data center technician role.

“Equinix invested a lot in us, and I’m very grateful. I now have a clear idea of what I want to do with my life.”

From installing customer equipment to maintaining 24/7 uptime, Amil’s role is critical to keeping the digital world running. His story is a powerful example of how apprenticeships can provide clarity, purpose and a strong foundation for long-term growth.
