Job Summary

We are looking for an intelligent, energetic and highly motivated Legal Counsel, Corporate to join our EMEA Market Growth and Enablement legal team.

This is a broad and international role supporting some of Equinix’s most strategic growth initiatives across EMEA, including M&A transactions, joint ventures and other partnerships, new market entries and other complex corporate matters. You will work closely with our Corporate Development team and colleagues across One Legal and the wider business, often across multiple jurisdictions and functions.

We are looking for more than a technically strong corporate lawyer. We want someone who is curious, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a fast-moving and evolving organization; someone who enjoys working with colleagues from different professional and cultural backgrounds, takes ownership and looks for practical solutions rather than simply identifying legal issues.

Technology is increasingly important to how our legal team works. We are looking for someone who is comfortable using AI and other legal technology in their day-to-day work and is enthusiastic about identifying new ways to use technology, standardization and better processes to deliver legal support more effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support M&A transactions mainly across EMEA throughout the transaction lifecycle, including due diligence, structuring, drafting and negotiating transaction documents and ancillary agreements, signing, closing and post-closing matters, and with opportunity to support cross-regional work as and when required
  • Support the structuring, negotiation and ongoing management of joint ventures, strategic alliances and other partnerships, as well as Equinix’s entry into new markets
  • Work closely with Corporate Development and other business stakeholders as an embedded legal partner, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice that enables informed decision-making while appropriately managing legal risk
  • Lead and manage transaction workstreams, coordinating stakeholders across different functions and jurisdictions and effectively instructing and managing external counsel, including ensuring that external legal support is appropriately scoped, efficient and delivers practical advice aligned with Equinix’s objectives
  • Support the integration of newly acquired or organically built businesses, including participating in cross-functional integration teams and addressing post-closing and market rollout legal and regulatory matters
  • Advise on competition/antitrust, foreign investment and other regulatory matters associated with M&A, joint ventures, partnerships and new-market activities, working with relevant specialists within One Legal as appropriate
  • Provide legal support on corporate restructurings, financing and other corporate matters as required
  • Use AI, legal technology, standardization and process improvements to improve how transactional legal work is delivered and actively identify opportunities to make processes more efficient and scalable
  • Contribute to the development and sharing of best practices, knowledge, playbooks, templates and ways of working across the team, and collaborate with colleagues globally on projects and transactions where appropriate

Qualifications

What we are looking for

  • A law degree from a recognised university, with qualification as a lawyer in an EMEA jurisdiction (or equivalent professional legal qualification) and proven years’ post-qualification experience, including relevant experience in a law firm
  • Meaningful hands-on experience in M&A and corporate transactions and a strong general corporate background. Experience supporting external debt financing transactions in connection with M&A, joint ventures or other strategic transactions would be an advantage
  • Strong legal judgment combined with a commercial and solution-oriented mindset. You are comfortable assessing and navigating risk and helping the business reach well-informed decisions rather than simply identifying legal issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with colleagues from different professional and cultural backgrounds, across functions, seniority levels and jurisdictions
  • A genuine team mindset. How we work together matters to us. You enjoy collaborating, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing positively to an engaged and resilient team
  • Curiosity, adaptability and resilience. You are comfortable operating in a fast-moving international organisation where priorities, transactions and ways of working continue to evolve
  • Experience using generative AI and other technology as part of your legal work, coupled with curiosity about how technology can improve the quality, speed and scalability of legal services. We are looking for someone who actively embraces these tools rather than simply being willing to use them
  • The ability to take ownership, work independently and manage competing priorities while knowing when to involve others or ask for support
  • Fluency in English
