This role is a hybrid position primarily focused on Data Center Logistics operations (80%), with additional responsibilities supporting Customer Operations Engineering (20%). The position applies acquired job skills to perform semi-routine logistics tasks within standard operating procedures, while progressively developing technical capabilities to support customer operations.


The role is designed as a career pathway position, enabling the individual to 
transition into a full Customer Operations Engineering role within approximately 12 months, based on performance, training completion, and business requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
Logistics Operations (Primary Focus – 80%)
Shipping & Receiving
• Coordinate and manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy 
and timely processing
• Receive and inspect goods delivered to the Data Center, ensuring compliance 
with quality standards
• Maintain accurate records of all materials received, stored, and shipped
• Use shipment tracking tools (e.g., Shipment Dashboard, Shipment Spotlight) 
to monitor customer deliveries
• Ensure proper handling, labelling, and storage of all equipment

Documentation & System Updates
• Enter and maintain shipment data in internal systems with high accuracy
• Coordinate delivery of goods to customer cages or designated areas and 
obtain sign-off
• Notify customers of shipment arrivals and delivery completion
• Maintain logs, records, and audit trails for all logistics activities
Customer Delivery Coordination
• Support large customer deliveries and resolve shipping/receiving issues
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure on-time 
delivery
• Escalate and assist in resolving complex logistics issues

Equipment & Inventory Management
• Track stored, aging, and abandoned equipment using established processes
• Manage aging shipments (5, 14, 30, 90 days) in line with business policies
• Support equipment movement within the Data Center

Hazardous Materials Compliance
• Follow established procedures for handling hazardous materials
• Ensure compliance with regional safety and regulatory requirements
• Escalate non-compliance or safety risks appropriately

Data Center Support
• Assist with movement, packing, and preparation of customer equipment
• Support Smart Hands requests related to packing and shipment preparation
Customer Operations Engineering Support (Secondary Focus – 20%)
Technical Support & Smart Hands
• Assist with basic rack and stack activities (servers, switches, routers, 
firewalls)
• Support installation of cross-connects (UTP and fiber) and patching activities
• Provide remote hands support under guidance for troubleshooting and basic 
diagnostics

Monitoring & Incident Support
• Assist in monitoring network alerts and reporting issues to senior engineers
• Support troubleshooting activities during incidents and outages
Maintenance & Upgrades
• Assist in basic hardware upgrades (e.g., drives, memory, SFPs) under 
supervision
• Support preventive maintenance tasks and scheduled work activities

Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, incidents, and resolutions
• Assist in updating customer inventory and operational documentation

Development Pathway
• Participate in structured training programs aligned with Customer Operations 
Engineering
• Gain hands-on exposure to technical tasks through shift coverage and 
shadowing
• Demonstrate competency in technical skills, customer handling, and 
operational processes
• Progress toward full Customer Operations Engineer responsibilities within 12 
months


Qualifications, key skills and attributes:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1–3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or data centre operations 
preferred
• TAFE NSW certification or relevant IT/Telco qualification (preferred for 
transition pathway)
• Forklift license and Hazardous materials certification (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in operational tasks
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures with occasional independent 
judgment
• Effective communication and coordination with internal and external 
stakeholders
• Basic technical aptitude and willingness to learn data centre technologies
• Strong teamwork mindset with flexibility to support 24/7 operations if required
• Problem-solving ability in logistics and operational scenarios
