Job Summary

This position is within the Global Design and Construction team (over 200 team members) who deliver over 70 projects globally per year (in excess of $2B capex).

 

The Senior Construction Project Manager oversees the day‑to‑day operations and strategic direction of multiple large‑scale construction projects, while leading and developing a team of Construction and Operations Project Managers. This role directs project execution, manages construction costs, methods, and contractor selection, and ensures alignment with project schedules and organizational goals in a complex, multi‑faceted environment. The Senior Construction Project Manager also mentors junior team members, providing tactical guidance and making decisive interventions to resolve project issues and drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Provides guidance to Construction/Operations Project Managers who are driving the delivery to day-to-day Construction/Operations projects       

  • Sets goals for immediate team members

  • Manages multilayered teams of professionals, external and internal and drive to deliver to set goals for successful completion and handover to OPS/business

Project Management

  • Manages one or more smaller projects or single larger construction projects

  • Lead by example on safety, standards, and culture

  • Manage and monitor project progress, quality and compliance with building regulations

  • Ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectations

  • Overview and management of project risk registers

  • Lead detailed cost control efforts, taking initiative to drive rapid turnarounds in collaboration with the Commercial Team to deliver cost-effective outcomes

Vendor Relations

  • Directs external vendors per project comprising general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers etc.

  • Contributes to establishing and maintaining high value relationships

Training Programs

  • Supports in identifying and developing training programs

  • Supports cross-functional training

Contract Administration

  • Manages contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation

  • Liaising with local authorities and relevant State agencies and departments

Leadership

  • Directs internal and external project team members including internal Design, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and IT/Network support teams

  • Mentors junior team member as needed

Policy & Procedure Development

  • Manages maintaining best in class policies and procedures

  • Manages project closure, handover and lessons learnt processes are established and implemented

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Project Management, or Services Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Experience working with General Contractors (GCs), with exposure to greenfield developments and retrofit projects

  • Proven experience in project and construction management, including work on critical infrastructure within data centers or similar industrial environments

  • Demonstrated success managing construction projects from initiation through completion

  • Strong customer focus with the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships

  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a dynamic environment

  • In‑depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practices

  • Experience with construction procurement methodologies and contractor management

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Project, Excel, and Visio, as well as comfort learning and applying AI‑driven tools

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - CH1 Chicago : 150,000 - 224,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
