For Haley Wynne, it was exactly that.
In 2023, Haley joined Equinix as an intern on our Global Technical Solutions Team (GTST) Public Sector team. Today, she's a full-time Solutions Architect Associate, designing cutting-edge network solutions for global clients. Her journey proves that, when you find the right environment with the right support, anything is possible.
Here's how Hayley launched her tech career— and how you can too.
How was your internship experience with Equinix, and what made you decide to join full-time?
My internship at Equinix in 2023 was such a meaningful experience. I worked on the Global Technical Solutions Team's Public Sector team, where I gained a solid understanding of the daily responsibilities of sales engineers and solutions architects. I also learned a lot about how working with public sector clients differs from private sector ones, which gave me a broader perspective on the industry.
What really stood out was the culture. I didn’t know much about Equinix going in, so there was a learning curve—not just in understanding the business, but also in adjusting to a corporate environment. But from day one, everyone was kind, approachable, and willing to help. That support made a huge difference and really stuck with me. It’s a big part of why I accepted a full-time offer. I knew Equinix was a place where I’d be supported and could grow.
Could you describe your day-to-day role and the impact you make?
I’m now a Solutions Architect Associate on the Global Principal Technologist team. Most of my time is spent supporting our Solutions Workshop program, which consists of one- to two-day deep-dive sessions with prospects and customers to uncover challenges in their network infrastructure and explore how Equinix can help.
My role is to actively listen, understand their current environment and goals, and translate that into a detailed deliverable. This includes outlining their current state, our recommendations, estimated costs, and a clear transition strategy. Many customers know they want to use Equinix but aren’t sure how to deploy our services effectively. That’s where I come in—designing tailored solutions that align with their needs. It’s incredibly rewarding to help customers unlock the full potential of what we offer.
How have you grown professionally during your time at Equinix?
Equinix has significantly supported my professional growth by investing in my training and development. Over the past year, I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of computer networking, which enabled me to successfully earn my CompTIA Network+ certification. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support from my team. The skills I’ve developed have already enhanced my performance in my current role and will continue to benefit me in future opportunities.
