Engineering trust at global scale

lip 3 2026

One of the best things about working at Equinix is being at the forefront of innovation. It means deploying breakthrough AI technologies and building systems that the global internet relies on—and keeping them running, every second of every day.

In this edition of our People Spotlight series, we sit down with Vikrant Bhargava, Senior Director, Site Engineering, Digital Engineering Excellence. From the moment Vikrant starts talking about his work in site reliability, the passion behind this critical team becomes impossible to miss.

Building mission-critical systems for an always-on world

Each day looks different for Vikrant and his team. “Our days are a dynamic mix of deep technical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic thinking,” Vikrant says. “We might start the morning aligning on a critical reliability incident and end the afternoon brainstorming how a new AI capability can transform a customer’s experience.”

Equinix powers innovation through interconnections across 77 metros in 36 countries, and our site reliability engineering team is entrusted by our customers to run their most mission-critical workloads. “From financial systems that power global banks to platforms driving real-time business decisions, the team’s core responsibility includes ensuring that the AI platforms underpinning these workloads deliver consistent performance and measurable outcomes.”

As Vikrant explains, working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and customer trust is an exciting place to be. “We don’t just build systems; we build confidence. Our team’s work directly translates into business continuity and customer success on a global scale.”

Joining a company at the forefront of transformation

When Vikrant made the shift to Equinix, he saw the opportunity to join an organization at the cusp of a rare and exciting dual transformation. Both business and technology.

“When I heard our CEO Adaire Fox-Martin and CDIO Harmeen Mehta articulate a bold vision,” he says, “I knew this was no ordinary company. What truly inspired me was the realization that Equinix isn’t just selling AI; it is one of the biggest consumers and drivers of it.”

Vikrant was excited for the chance to lead a team at the heart of this transformation. It’s one thing to work with technology; it’s another to help shape how a global digital infrastructure leader reimagines itself through it. That unique intersection of purpose, scale, and leadership vision drew him in. In that moment, he knew it was an opportunity he could not pass up.

A culture powered by people

When asked what he loves most about working at Equinix, Vikrant’s answer was immediate: the people. “Equinix attracts individuals who genuinely care. About the work, about each other, and about the customers we serve.”

He adds: “We have real, fun and candid conversations that don't just make the day enjoyable. They make us sharper and more effective.”

At Equinix, our engineers don’t simply receive tickets and execute them in isolation. It is a collaborative atmosphere where cross-functional thinking is required, and technical ownership is genuine.

There’s a culture of support where people are intentional about leaning in to help, not just within their own lane but across teams and functions. The collective intelligence and collaborative spirit of the people make even the hardest challenges feel approachable. For engineers who have worked in environments where knowledge is siloed or support is conditional, this is a meaningful shift.

“It’s the kind of environment where you feel backed, not just managed,” Vikrant says. “When you enjoy who you work with, it elevates everything—the quality of work, the energy you bring, and the outcomes you achieve.”

This is where technology, people and purpose converge. Whether it’s building mission-critical systems behind the digital world or solving complex, real-world problems, the work here matters. What makes the difference is the people you do it with, and the impact you create along the way.
