A career fueled by exploration and curiosity

Usha joined Equinix’s Sydney office as the first partner marketing hire, at a time when the channel business was still emerging in Australia. This early start gave her a unique opportunity to help define the position of partner marketing at the company.

Driven by curiosity and a desire to deepen her impact, she transitioned into a reseller activation role, where she focused on recruiting, onboarding and developing partners. This hands-on work exposed her to the full life cycle of partner growth and strengthened her understanding of how channel ecosystems scale.

Her contributions led to her promotion to Senior Partner Program Manager, where she played a critical role in building joint go-to-market strategies with Australia’s top telecommunications companies. As Equinix introduced distribution as a new channel growth engine, Usha stepped up again, leading the APAC Distribution program and onboarding distribution partners across Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

With a strong interest in revenue generation and equipped with transferable skills earned across partner and program management, Usha made another strategic move—this time to channel sales. Today, she drives new business growth with Equinix’s focused partners in Australia, continuing her journey at the intersection of strategy, partnership and customer impact.

Her trajectory demonstrates how Equinix empowers employees to move across functions, stretch into new areas and shape careers that evolve with their interests and strengths.

With each role, Usha gained a deeper understanding of how partners power Equinix’s success, an insight that shapes the passion she carries into her work today.

“The Partner Ecosystem is our Superpower”

For Usha, the biggest opportunity at Equinix lies in the strength of our partner ecosystem. We’ve built a global, interconnected partner network over the last 27 years.

“The scale we achieve with partners is incredible,” she says. “Being part of Partner Sales gives me the chance to collaborate with industry-leading organizations and create win-win solutions that help businesses scale globally.”

Finding Belonging, Confidence through WomenConnect

One of the defining, ongoing chapters of Usha’s Equinix journey has beenis her involvement with WomenConnect, an Equinix Employee Connection Network (EECN) dedicated to empowering Equinix women employees and advocates.

Usha shares: “When I joined Equinix nine years ago, I clearly remember my Day 1, and my first thought was... ‘Wow, there are so many women in the office!’ Having worked in telcos and other tech companies, this was unusual. I immediately felt a sense of belonging, and I knew I had joined the right company. The rest is history.”

Although WomenConnect (then formerly known as the Equinix Women Leaders Network) was initially limited to senior leaders, Usha made her interest known. When it membership opened to all employees two years later, she became an ambassador—then, shortly after, and she was tapped to lead WomenConnect APAC.

Stepping into leadership stretched her confidence, and helping propel her career with diverse opportunities:

  • Building relationships with senior leaders
  • Leading flagship events like International Women’s Day
  • Driving Women in Tech initiatives
  • Hosting global panels
  • Representing APAC in the inaugural EECN Council

“I owe a lot of my personal and professional development to WomenConnect,” Usha adds, “which has enabled me to build relationships with senior executives and lead key projects such as International Women’s Day programs, Women in Tech initiatives, panel interviews with global leaders and much more.”

Being part of WomenConnect gave her confidence, perspective and a deeper appreciation of the role of our culture in driving performance.

Endless excitement in a cutting-edge space

Usha thrives in an environment where innovation meets impact. At Equinix, she is surrounded by both every day.

“I enjoy working in a fast-paced organization which that is on a growth trajectory, where we are really working towards a common goal, which is to solve challenges for our customers,” she says.. “What I love about Equinix is the support everyone is willing to provide across the board, whether it’s our leaders or peers. Through my tenure, I am grateful to my leaders who, throughout my tenure, have provided the platform to bring my authentic best to work by giving me the flexibility in moving to different roles and stepping outside my day job to work on things like WomenConnect and supporting other networks.”

As AI accelerates, hybrid multicloud becomes the standard, and data demands rise, Usha believes that Equinix is uniquely positioned to lead the next decade of digital innovation. Equinix is investing in technologies that will define the future of digital infrastructure.  Usha said “Our platform, ecosystem, and interconnection capabilities give us a competitive edge,” she notes.. “With clarity, simplicity, and a growth mindset, we’re not just keeping up with the future—we’re shaping it.”
