Job Summary

Equinix's Partner Senior Director for Venture Capital and Private Equity (VE/PE) will establish and scale Equinix’s engagement model with the world’s leading investment firms, developing joint go-to-market (GTM) and routes-to-market (RTM) motions that accelerate portfolio growth, infrastructure modernization, and digital transformation across their holdings. This leader will serve as the primary relationship owner for key VE and PE firms, designing partnership frameworks that align portfolio needs with Equinix’s global platform, from colocation and interconnection to AI infrastructure and sovereign cloud.

Responsibilities

Build the Partner Program Framework

  • Design the VE/PE engagement model, defining tiers, criteria, and value propositions for both investment firms and their portfolio companies

  • Develop the business case for a scalable partnership program with clear GTM alignment across Sales, Channel, and Marketing

  • Establish internal governance, success metrics, and joint planning cadences

Develop Strategic Relationships

  • Identify, prioritize, and establish executive-level relationships with target VE/PE firms globally

  • Engage both investment and operating teams to align Equinix capabilities to portfolio value creation priorities (e.g., digital modernization, AI infrastructure, M&A integration)

  • Act as Equinix’s ambassador into portfolio ecosystems — creating pathways from portfolio adoption to institutional framework agreements

Create and Execute GTM & RTM Motions

  • Co-develop joint GTM motions that enable portfolio adoption of Equinix products and services (Colo, xScale, Fabric, Edge, Sovereign)

  • Align with internal vertical and regional sales teams to translate partnerships into measurable revenue impact

  • Build repeatable “playbooks” for sales engagement, incentive structures, and marketing enablement across target firms

Deliver Measurable Results

  • Short-term success (first 6–12 months):

  • Frame and launch the VE/PE partnership program

  • Build and communicate a clear value proposition for investment firms

  • Develop relationships with operations leaders across 10–15 key firms

  • Generate initial pipeline through portfolio company adoption

  • Long-term success (12–24 months):

  • Establish multi-firm framework agreements

  • Create a sustainable pipeline of portfolio engagements with measurable bookings

  • Position Equinix as a preferred digital infrastructure partner to VE/PE ecosystems globally

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Deep understanding of the VE/PE ecosystem, including investment strategies, portfolio operations, and value creation levers

  • Proven experience building strategic partnerships with investment firms or similar high-level ecosystems

  • Strong grasp of digital infrastructure solutions, including colocation, interconnection, cloud, AI infrastructure, and edge computing

  • Expertise in go-to-market (GTM) and routes-to-market (RTM) strategies, ideally in a global technology or platform business

  • Track record of executive-level relationship management, influencing senior stakeholders across complex organizations

  • Experience designing and scaling partner programs, including tiering, governance, and success metrics

  • Ability to deliver short-term wins while building long-term strategic value, balancing tactical execution with visionary planning

Skills and Attributes

  • Established network within VE/PE firms and portfolio operating teams

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights

  • Comfort with ambiguity and building programs from the ground up, including creating repeatable playbooks and frameworks

  • High degree of adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, evolving environments

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of articulating value propositions to both investment and operating teams
