Job Summary

The role will require an individual to create an employee messaging/communications strategy, to enable organizational-wide business and culture transformation internally, while building an external employee brand presence.  

Equinix is looking for a Vice President, People Messaging and Talent Marketing to join our Global Organizational and Talent team. The ideal candidate will be a member of our leadership team, steering internal people-related strategic communications globally. This pivotal role is instrumental in advancing the success of the Platform Strategy, Transformation Office endeavours, establishing the narrative to support Equinix to evolve being an industry leading employment brand externally and enhancing the overall employee promise and experience at Equinix. 

As a Data Center services and software company navigating substantial change and transformation, we seek a visionary and dynamic leader. This individual will adeptly convey our vision, mission, values, and strategic goals to internal and external stakeholders, inspiring them to embrace and actively support the culture and business transformation by providing context for the scope of the change. The translation of our strategy into a shared understanding among every member of our employee base is a critical outcome. 

The Vice President, People Messaging and Talent Marketing will take charge of formulating and executing a comprehensive and integrated communications strategy aligned with our business objectives, brand identity, and change/transformation agenda. Responsibilities include crafting a compelling narrative for the change and ensuring consistency in all communication and change efforts across the organization. 

Working closely with the CEO, Executive Staff, HR, Brand and Marketing teams, the selected candidate will spearhead an executive communications strategy highlighting Equinix's thought leadership, innovation, and the outcomes of the ongoing transformation. In addition, coaching and advising executives on effective communication approaches and best practices will be a key aspect of the role. The role works to establish a strong HR brand and employee value proposition that will entice talent who might not yet recognize Equinix to be their employer or choice. 

The role leads a team of communication and talent marketing professionals, the successful candidate will handle multiple complex projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Utilizing innovative communication and change methods and building an integrated multi-channel engagement platform to connect and reinforce key messages will be essential for engaging and influencing our diverse global audience. A persuasive and compelling external employer brand with associated Employee Value Proposition, aligned with the Brand evolution is a product of this role.  

In building and sustaining an effective employer value proposition, the successful candidate will create associated marketing materials to attract, retain, and motivate talent while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence internally that reflects the Brand promise. The role will build the external employee related brand to reflect the culture of Equinix, Magic and HR practice as an essential element of the external people related brand.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement a strategic, integrated, and consistent messaging and talent marketing strategy that supports our business objectives, and brand identity for the Platform Strategy and supports the Transformation Office (TRO) and HR teams in executing that strategy

  • Develop an Employee Value Proposition (EVP) that sets the tone for the employee experience at Equinix and steers the development of marketing and other material for talent acquisition  

  • Integrate and coordinate all communication and employee messaging efforts across the organization, and ensure alignment and consistency with Brand, tone of voice and clarity of understanding in the context of one narrative for the organization

  • Work closely with the CEO, other executives at Estaff and Global Leadership levels (VP+s) to create and execute an executive communications strategy that highlights our thought leadership, innovation, and impact and translates strategy to local practice and understanding in a consistent way

  • Build an external brand for the CHRO, the HR function 

  • Ensure that people related policy (HR / other people related functions) and processes reflects the right tone of voice consistent with narrative and brand aspirations 

  • Coach executives (CEO / Estaff) to ensure personal executive delivery is on brand, on narrative and on message in a consistent way

  • Anticipate and understand key organizational moments and advise and implement tactics that support these in the context of an overall narrative for a consistent and cohesive approach

  • Coach and drive across multiple forums on effective communication approaches and best practices leveraging storytelling, internal social media and use an experience design approach that reflects emergent best practices in leveraging technology and highlight an integrated multi-channel communications platform and approach 

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of professionals, and oversee multiple and complex projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment – be inspiring – be a role model of the narrative and associated behaviors. Ensure all actions always reflect the best of Equinix Values

  • Build and maintain an effective employer value proposition that attracts, retains, and motivates our talent, and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Create an effective marketing strategy so that Equinix is seen as destination of choice for talent that might not otherwise choose Equinix, through close partnership with colleagues

  • Build an external facing HR communications strategy that builds the Brand externally with the aspiration of positioning Equinix as a historically significant company over the long-term horizons

  • Navigate flawless execution through a disciplined program management approach across multiple departments and agenda

  • Build a meaningful lead generation execution engine to complement Business demand in key areas

Qualifications 

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage leading-edge communication and change methods, including social and internal media, to engage and influence diverse and global audiences

  • Demonstrated experience building Employee Value Proposition and Talent Brands that differentiates company from an ROI (Return on Investment) and Brand recognition perspective

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communication, journalism, marketing, or related field 

  • 10+ years of experience in communication and change management, preferably in the software or technology industry 

  • Proven record of accomplishment of developing and implementing successful communication and change strategies and campaigns and delivering measurable results

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with senior leaders, employees, customers, partners, media, and other stakeholders, using various channels and platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a high-performance team and oversee multiple and complex projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain an effective employer value proposition that attracts, retains, and motivates talent, and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation and storytelling skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to think strategically and creatively

  • Media savvy, and up to date with the latest trends and best practices in communication and change
