Lean Executive

The Role:

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for transformation and a proven ability to drive meaningful change? This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a global leader at a pivotal moment, spearheading the implementation of LEAN methodologies across the organization. As the Transformation Executive, you will play a mission-critical role in reshaping processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement that will define the company’s trajectory for years to come.

This position is designed for a two-year tenure, offering a unique chance to make a lasting impact within a defined timeframe. You will work with senior leaders to establish and execute new standards of excellence, mentor cross-functional teams, and position the company to achieve sustainable operational success. For those who thrive on building legacies, this role offers the opportunity to architect and implement strategies that will set the foundation for the company’s long-term success, without the constraints of traditional career timelines. It’s a career-defining chance to lead transformative work, deliver measurable results, and exit knowing you’ve left a profound imprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement LEAN strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain LEAN standards, processes, and tools across the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of LEAN initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting LEAN thinking and practices.
  • Execute through teaching, creating standards for excellence for others to follow.
  • Expertise in LEAN methodologies, including value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills to oversee multiple LEAN initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to train and mentor employees at all levels on LEAN principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics to track and report on LEAN progress.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to LEAN principles through personal actions and decision-making.
  • Inspire and motivate employees to embrace LEAN methodologies and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example, demonstrate a willingness to challenge the status quo, and drive positive change.
  • Communicate the benefits of LEAN to all stakeholders, fostering buy-in and support for LEAN initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration and alignment on LEAN goals.

Adjacent deliverables alongside Value Stream execution:

  • Executive Champion Orientation: Ensuring Executive Champion Orientation (ECO) for the ETEAM.  Coaching and providing training on value streams, daily management, and hands-on problem-solving, ensuring that ETEAM / GLO are well-equipped to drive LEAN initiatives.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Engaging already in-house experienced practitioners, establishing mentoring and coaching of other leaders to accelerate LEAN transformation. This hands-on approach ensures that LEAN behaviors are learned, adopted, and integrated throughout the organization.

Knowledge and Experience sought:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in LEAN implementation and transformation roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading LEAN initiatives in a complex organizational environment.
  • LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Structured Approach to Problem-Solving: A structured approach to problem-solving is essential for Value Stream implementation. This involves using methodologies like the plan-do-act cycle to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Guiding Principles: Establishing guiding principles is crucial. These principles provide purpose and direction, ensuring that everyone in the organization is focused on enhancing customer value by continuously improving and eliminating waste.
  • Proven Systems: Implementing proven systems based on historical and empirical best practices, which are collections of structured processes and tools, enables companies to achieve increased levels of performance year after year. These systems should be integrated into Equinix’s operations to ensure sustainable results.
  • Leadership and Engagement: This leader will be a driven leader who demonstrates intrinsic LEAN values and instincts and engages employees and all around them.
