Job Summary
The One Legal team at Equinix is seeking a Manager, State & Local Government Affairs and Community Outreach. The focus of this position is three-fold: (1) state and local advocacy; (2) local community outreach; and (3) support for the Company’s state, local and education public sector business. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to help grow our public policy agenda and educate political leaders and government officials on our products and services, while promoting the growth of internet infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
Identify emerging public policy issues related to the Company’s mid- and long-term business plans and develop policy positions, strategies and analyses to influence the external environment and advance the Company’s business priorities
Help lead the day-to-day portfolio of the Company’s public policy agenda at the US state and local level, primarily where the Company has a physical presence and does business
Work with internal and industry stakeholders to devise and execute on strategies to engage local communities -to build meaningful community engagement and to assure an accurate and positive understanding of the Company and industry
Develop and execute on public policy strategies to support the Company’s public sales teams in the state, local and education (SLED) markets
Participate in the development of the Company’s public policy agenda through regular meetings and ongoing communications with the Company’s senior leadership teams
Participate in public policy coalitions and trade associations aligned with the Company’s public policy agenda and serve as a key point of contact for the Company’s participation in those organizations
Develop working relationships with key policy makers and regulators - to effectively advocate the Company’s public policy agenda
Develop internal resources to educate employees about the Company’s public policy and community engagement agenda
Work with the Company’s Corporate Communications team and others to develop a robust set of messages and materials that:
Educate policymakers about the Company’s business objectives, its importance to the foundational operations of the Internet, and its plans for future growth
Position the Company as a leader with vision on central issues of importance to the Company
Help the public understand the role the Company plays in the daily operations of the Internet
Promote the company’s positive contributions to environmental sustainability through the support and development of renewable energy sources and markets, energy efficiency and other initiatives
Emphasize the positive economic and cultural benefits of the Company’s global growth
Explain the use of a REIT structure for the Company as a net benefit to growth
o Promote the Company’s commitment to energy-efficiency and environmentally-friendly policies
Promote the Company’s social sustainability commitment including to Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) to develop a diverse, empowered, and effective workforce
Qualifications
5+ years in government relations positions; prior service in state or federal legislative/regulatory bodies a plus
Bachelor’s degree; law or master’s degree a plus
Knowledge of technology and the internet, cybersecurity and data privacy, environmental and sustainability standards/energy use by corporations, government procurement and appropriations policy, local and state tax policy issues
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Position based in Redwood City, California or Dallas, Texas
The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 186,000 - 280,000 USD / Annual
United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
