Job Summary

Design and develop interconnection solutions and services based on product management and NSE requirements. This includes proof of concept testing and configuration development on network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Deployment, configuration, and management of all network infrastructure on our data center campus

  • Work with partner teams and vendors to manage day-to-day operations and reliability of the Equinix Global Lab

  • Schedule and perform maintenance including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of networks.

  • Create deployment packages and maintain as-built documentation and asset database for installed network gear

  • Establish and implement global best practices and contribute to the design of new scalable network solutions

  • Support the development, testing and integration of new hardware and software platforms into the network

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 4+ years of networking experience with designing, deploying, and supporting service provider, data center, and/or enterprise network infrastructure

  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols

  • Experience with network/bandwidth testing hardware and software (e.g. Ixia, Spirent, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of OTN– CWDM, DWDM and optical transport network technologies

  • Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, BGP)

  • Working knowledge with tooling and automation support for network deployment & operations across infrastructure environments

  • Working knowledge of current pluggable optical technology and vendors, across various transmission speeds and distances.

  • Familiarity with the Linux based systems and experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl)

  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware

  • Working knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling

  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against mission critical deadlines

  • Proven experience working in a global team environment and solving problems with limited supervision

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise and carrier class routing, switching, and optical transport platforms

  • Knowledge of data center design and operational best practices

  • Knowledge analyzing situations and utilizing problem solving experiences under pressure

  • Proven experience leading and executing network deployment projects

  • Knowledge working with limited supervision

  • Knowledge interacting with vendors and external parties to drive projects to completion

  • Time and project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with field-based work in Data Centers, Colocation Facilities, Internet Exchanges, or Central Offices

  • Working knowledge of data center power and cooling infrastructure and critical facility operational best practices

  • Technical leadership experience

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - SV3 Silicon Valley : 142,000 - 212,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
