Job Summary
Equinix is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the CIM team within the Digital and Innovation organization. This organization is responsible for delivering end-to-end observability for infrastructure and IBX environments.
The role focuses on the design, development, and operation of scalable, cloud-based platforms and products. The ideal candidate will bring strong, hands-on expertise in full stack & Agentic AI development, cloud-native technologies, Agile methodologies, and DevSecOps practices while working effectively in a globally distributed engineering environment.
The successful candidate will:
Design and build AI-default, scalable, highly available enterprise platforms
Operate in a DevSecOps environment with a strong, quality-first mindset
Collaborate with globally distributed teams and product stakeholders
Demonstrate ownership, curiosity, and a strong customer focus
Contribute to architecture, peer reviews, and operational excellence
Responsibilities
Solution Development and Architecture
Work closely with Product Management and stakeholders to build effective business solutions
Deliver solutions aligned with architectural principles and guidelines
Design and develop highly available, scalable, secure, concurrent, and data-intensive distributed applications
Develop microservices and RESTful APIs aligned with industry standards
DevOps and Operational Excellence
Operate within a DevSecOps environment using a quality-first approach
Participate in design reviews and peer code reviews
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while maintaining compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs)
Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices
Agile Collaboration
Participate in backlog refinement and sprint activities with Product Owners
Work effectively within a globally distributed development team
Operate with minimal supervision while maintaining strong accountability

This role is best suited to a highly hands-on senior engineer who:
Enjoys full-stack and cloud-native engineering
Has strong experience with microservices and distributed systems
Can contribute across architecture, development, operations, and production support
Is comfortable working in modern DevSecOps environments
Balances technical depth with strong collaboration and communication skills
Thrives in fast-moving enterprise platform teams
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Five or more years of software engineering experience
Five or more years of strong Java development experience
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of:
Data structures
Concurrency
Algorithms
Design patterns
Software engineering best practices
Strong experience with full-stack technologies, including:
Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Spring Data, and React with TypeScript
Microservices, REST APIs, and Swagger
Hibernate ORM, Maven, JUnit, JMeter, and LoadRunner
Experience with:
Relational database modelling, relational database management systems (RDBMSs), and NoSQL databases such as Redis, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra
Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio
Public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Agentic AI, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-orchestration frameworks
Micro-frontends and modern UI frameworks
Agile and Scrum methodologies
Test-driven development (TDD)
CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 88,000 - 132,000 CAD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
