Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Principal Product Manager to lead the product strategy and roadmap for our Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform.
This role will drive a Platform-as-a-Product mindset, delivering scalable, secure, and self-service capabilities for data engineering, analytics, APIs, streaming systems, and AI/GenAI workloads across the enterprise.
You will own the platform product vision, roadmap, and engineering backlog, working closely with Platform Engineering, SRE, Governance, and Data teams to evolve the platform into a highly reliable, intelligent, and developer-centric internal platform.
A key responsibility of this role is to drive AI-native platform capabilities, embedding Generative AI, automation, and intelligent platform operations into the next generation of the enterprise platform.
Responsibilities
Platform Product Strategy
Define and drive the product vision and long-term roadmap for the Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform
Lead the adoption of a Platform-as-a-Product operating model, ensuring platform capabilities are delivered as scalable internal products with clear value for engineering teams
Shape the platform evolution across key domains including:
-Data ingestion and transformation frameworks
-API and integration platforms
-Streaming and real-time data platforms
-Platform governance and data governance enablement
-Platform observability and reliability
-Developer self-service and platform automation
-AI and GenAI platform capabilities
-Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and introduce innovations that enhance platform scalability, intelligence, and developer productivity
Platform Backlog Ownership
Own and manage the platform engineering backlog across multiple platform domains, including:
-Platform Engineering
-Platform Governance
-Platform Control Tower / Observability
-Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
-Production Support enablement
-GenAI platform capabilities
Translate strategic initiatives into clear epics, features, and prioritized engineering deliverables
Partner with engineering leadership to balance innovation, reliability, and operational excellence while ensuring continuous platform improvement
GenAI-Enabled Platform Innovation
Drive the adoption of Generative AI capabilities within the enterprise platform, enabling intelligent automation and developer productivity
Define product capabilities for AI-powered platform services, including:
-AI-assisted platform operations for troubleshooting incidents and diagnosing pipeline failures
-GenAI-powered developer assistants for building data pipelines, APIs, and platform integrations
-Automated code generation and optimization for data transformations and platform configurations
-AI-powered data discovery and metadata intelligence
-GenAI-driven documentation and knowledge assistants for platform users
-Automated platform diagnostics and root cause analysis
-AI-driven operational insights for SRE and production support teams
Work with engineering teams to embed LLM-powered automation and intelligent workflows into the platform ecosystem
Platform Control Tower & Operational Intelligence
Lead the development of a Platform Control Tower providing enterprise visibility into platform health and operations
The Control Tower will enable:
-Real-time monitoring of platform services
-Data pipeline health and reliability metrics
-API and streaming service observability
-Platform adoption and usage insights
-Governance compliance visibility
-AI-powered anomaly detection and operational insights
-Ensure the platform operates with intelligent observability and proactive operational insights
Platform Governance Enablement
Collaborate with Enterprise Data Governance teams to embed governance capabilities directly into the platform
Drive product capabilities that support:
-Metadata and data catalog integration
-Data lineage and observability
-Data quality monitoring
-Data classification and access controls
-Policy-driven governance automation
Ensure governance capabilities are delivered in a scalable, automated, and developer-friendly way
Reliability & SRE Alignment
Partner closely with Site Reliability Engineering teams to ensure platform reliability and operational excellence
Align platform roadmap priorities with:
-Observability improvements
-Incident reduction strategies
-Platform resilience and disaster recovery
-Capacity planning and performance optimization
Support the adoption of AI-driven reliability engineering practices to proactively identify operational risks
Developer Experience & Self-Service
Continuously improve the developer experience across the platform
Drive development of:
-Self-service platform capabilities
-Standardized platform templates and frameworks
-Automated developer workflows
-Simplified onboarding and platform documentation
-AI-powered developer assistants and platform copilots
The goal is to accelerate developer productivity while ensuring platform consistency and governance
Qualifications
Experience
12+ years of experience in Product Management, Platform Engineering, or Data Platform leadership roles
Proven experience managing enterprise-scale internal platforms
Experience working with large-scale data platforms, distributed systems, or developer platforms
Technical Understanding
Strong understanding of modern platform ecosystems including:
-Cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred)
-Data platforms and analytics architectures
-API and microservices ecosystems
-Streaming platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
-Observability and reliability engineering
-CI/CD and platform automation
-Modern data warehouse architectures
GenAI & AI Platform Awareness
Experience defining or working with AI-powered platform capabilities, including:
-Generative AI and Large Language Model ecosystems
-AI-powered developer productivity tools
-Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
-AI-driven observability and operational automation
-Intelligent platform assistants and developer copilots
Ability to identify opportunities where AI can significantly improve platform usability, reliability, and operational efficiency
Product Leadership
Strong experience managing engineering backlogs and platform roadmaps
Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear product value and adoption strategies
Experience driving cross-team alignment across engineering, platform, and governance teams
Leadership Skills
Strong communication and storytelling skills
Ability to influence engineering teams and senior leadership
Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels
Nice to Have
Experience implementing Platform-as-a-Product operating models
Exposure to Data Governance and metadata platforms
Experience with AI-driven platform automation
Experience working with enterprise-scale analytics platforms

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 166,000 - 248,000 CAD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
