Job summary:
At Equinix our Critical Facilities Engineers operate, manage, maintain and repair critical and non-critical Power systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire control and suppression, and all site services, and perform related vendor support in a mission critical environment.  

Critical Facilities Engineer III will suit those early in their career looking to develop themselves within the industry. We are searching for candidates who can fulfil and evenly split 24/7 roster and are hungry to build their base knowledge learned through educational studies with ideally some site experience in various industries from inside and outside the data center space.

You will receive in-depth training through our supportive site teams and Global Ops Academy, enabling you to continuously learn in a fast-paced environment conducting critical work every day.

We have several positions available and as such are willing to consider those with electrical, mechanical, or controls backgrounds looking to make an impact here at Equinix.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations on non-critical facility components.

  • Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and respond to alarms according to procedures.

  • Assist senior staff with complex repairs and corrective actions.

  • Operate plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems under supervision.

  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure maintenance activities meet company standards, including work order approvals and reviews.

  • Maintain site logs for permits (MOPs/scripts) and support on-site administration.

  • Complete work requests and circuit installations; troubleshoot and maintain office and auxiliary equipment as needed.

  • Support incident response and infrastructure projects as directed by senior staff.

  • Collaborate to resolve facility issues and inform stakeholders of inventory needs.

Qualifications, key skills and attributes:

  • Engineering certifications in related field of study

  • Technical mindset and aptitude, with a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems relevant to data centers

  • Positive attitude, commitment to learning and passion to undertake any relevant study, on-job or systems training to develop expertise in the role
