Job Summary

Works with product teams, analysts, and other engineers to design and implement scalable test automation solutions. Ensures software quality through robust testing strategies and mentors junior members of the team.

Responsibilities

Requirements Analysis

  • Understands, reads, and reviews functional and non-functional requirements

  • Collaborates with Business Analysts and Product Owners to clarify testable requirements

Software Architecture

  • Participates in architectural review processes with a focus on testability and automation integration

  • Contributes to the design of scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks

Software Design

  • Leads design of test automation for features and multiple modules

  • Provides technical leadership in automation strategy and tooling

  • Evaluates and recommends adoption of open-source testing tools and frameworks

Development/Coding

  • Develops automated test scripts for UI and API using Playwright, Cucumber, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Java

  • Implements reusable components and libraries for test automation

  • Participates in peer code reviews and promotes coding best practices

  • Integrates test automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions

Testing

  • Develops unit, integration, and regression test suites

  • Defines and executes test strategies aligned with Agile development

  • Recommends and implements testing frameworks and tools

  • Performs performance and load testing using tools like JMeter or Gatling

  • Supports security testing and integration of security checks in pipelines

DevOps

  • Defines deployment and release testing guidelines

  • Plans and manages test environments and cross-functional dependencies

  • Documents and educates teams on test automation processes and CI/CD integration

Software Reliability & Support Engineering

  • Maintains inventory of automated test coverage across production applications and systems

  • Prepares and maintains test documentation and knowledge base

  • Troubleshoots test failures and supports root cause analysis

Customer/Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on quality goals

  • Communicates test coverage, risks, and quality metrics to stakeholders

Technical Project Management

  • Provides level of effort (LOE) estimates for automation tasks

  • Works with project managers to define schedules and milestones for test automation deliverables

  • Provides status updates and contributes to release planning

R&D/Innovation

  • Investigates and evaluates emerging testing technologies and frameworks

  • Prototypes innovative solutions to improve test efficiency and reliability

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in test automation and framework development

  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and Cucumber

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Java

  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD integration

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Zephyr

  • Solid understanding of software testing principles including functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing

  • Experience with Python for scripting or automation tasks (preferred)

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
