An exciting opportunity has arisen to join LD14, one of Equinix's newest purpose-built International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centres in London.

As the Senior Supervisor, IBX Critical Facilities, you won't simply inherit an established operation. You'll play a key role in shaping the operational culture, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring the reliability of critical infrastructure that powers the digital services relied upon by organisations around the world.

About the Role

The Senior Supervisor, IBX Critical Facilities is responsible for leading a team of skilled professionals responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical infrastructure systems across the site.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, support major maintenance activities and infrastructure projects, drive operational excellence, and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and reliability are achieved.

This role offers the opportunity to influence both people and operations while helping establish LD14 as a benchmark facility within the Equinix portfolio.

What You'll Do

Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day direction to Critical Facilities professionals.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee development, performance management, succession planning, and career growth.
  • Ensure the team delivers operational excellence across all critical infrastructure systems.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical and non-critical infrastructure, including:
    • Electrical power systems
    • Cooling and HVAC systems
    • Fire detection and suppression systems
    • Plumbing and building infrastructure
    • Site grounds and supporting facilities
  • Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance activities are executed to the highest standards.
  • Support capacity planning and overall site performance objectives.

Manage Projects and Site Operations

  • Coordinate maintenance activities, infrastructure upgrades, and operational projects.
  • Assist with the commissioning, testing, and handover of new equipment and systems.
  • Monitor project progress, resources, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
  • Help establish operational routines and best practices within a growing facility.

Vendor and Contractor Management

  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Equinix standards.
  • Drive accountability, quality, and compliance across all vendor activities.
  • Build strong relationships with service providers to support site objectives.

Incident and Critical Operations Management

  • Lead and coordinate operational response during incidents and critical events.
  • Ensure effective communication, escalation, and resolution processes are followed.
  • Identify risks and drive preventative actions to maintain maximum site reliability and uptime.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Experience leading technical teams within a critical facilities, data centre, industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or mission-critical environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building services infrastructure.
  • Experience managing maintenance programmes, operational projects, and third-party contractors.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-availability environments.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Preferred

  • Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical qualification in engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in critical facilities, engineering operations, data centres, utilities, or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience supervising technicians, engineers, or facilities teams.
