Job Summary
Designs, builds, and maintains customer-facing services and user interfaces. The role partners closely with product managers and other stakeholders to understand business needs, shape technical solutions, and deliver high-quality capabilities across the full stack. This engineer also contributes to AI/ML–related efforts—such as integrating models, evaluating tools, or building data-driven features—while continuing to support broader engineering projects.

Responsibilities
Requirements & Discovery

  • Collaborates with Product Managers and stakeholders to clarify objectives, constraints, and desired outcomes

  • Translates business needs into technical approaches, identifying risks, dependencies, and edge cases early

  • Provides clear, actionable feedback that helps refine priorities and solution direction


Architecture and System Design

  • Leads design for major features, projects, and cross-system integrations

  • Contributes to and reviews architectural decisions across backend, frontend, and shared services

  • Drives consistency in patterns, data modeling, error handling, and observability across the codebase


Development

  • Designs, implements, and maintains backend services using server-side frameworks, strongly typed languages, and scalable data storage technologies

  • Builds and enhances frontend applications using component-based frameworks, client-side tooling, and microfrontend or modular UI architectures

  • Integrates AI/ML capabilities into existing systems when needed (e.g., inference APIs, vector search, model-driven features, data transformations)

  • Writes clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; actively participates in and leads peer code reviews

  • Improves code quality by adopting effective patterns, modern tooling, and appropriate linting and formatting standards


Quality and Reliability

  • Develops unit, integration, and cross-functional tests; recommends and adopts new testing frameworks

  • Works with associated infrastructure to ensure system reliability and performance

  • Troubleshoots and resolves Level 2 and Level 3 production issues; upholds operational SLAs

  • Conducts performance analysis and optimizes services for scalability and resiliency


DevOps

  • Collaborates on CI/CD pipeline improvements, release workflows, and deployment automation

  • Helps define infrastructure requirements for new services and features, including those involving ML components

  • Participates in release planning and ensures completeness and quality of production deployments


Technical Project Management

  • Provides accurate effort estimates and breaks down complex work into actionable tasks

  • Supports cross-team initiatives involving shared services, UI composition, and back-end integrations

  • Presents recommendations that inform the team’s technical roadmap and long-term strategy


R&D

  • Proactively investigates emerging frameworks, tools, and architectural patterns - with a focus towards advances in the AI/ML space

  • Conducts feasibility assessments and develops proofs-of-concept to validate new approaches


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production systems, including model inference APIs, vector embeddings, data pipelines, and LLM-powered features

  • Demonstrated ability to reason about trade-offs, simplify complex problems, and deliver maintainable solutions

  • Exposure to fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or model control-plane technologies (e.g., MCP) is advantageous

  • Experience working in an agile development environment

  • Comfortable giving and receiving direct, constructive feedback; works transparently and builds trust within the team

  • Familiarity with Service Management concepts is desirable

  • Desirable technical experience includes modern Node.js frameworks, TypeScript, GraphQL services, relational and NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL and Redis), event-streaming systems like Kafka, and contemporary front-end frameworks such as React with associated tooling

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 131,000 - 181,000 CAD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
