Job Summary
The Manager, AMER Operations Compliance supports and manages Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance for LATAM within the AMER region, ensuring adherence to global policies, local regulations, and Equinix standards. This role assists in EHS audits, risk management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives for AMER operations. Leads a team of Operations Compliance professionals, ensuring they meet schedules and goals effectively while working in a multi-faceted Data Center environment. Partners with Senior Management to execute strategy and programs in sites within scope. Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for compliance subjects assigned. Establishes strong working links with regional operational representatives and management.
Responsibilities
Support recruitment, development, and retention of EHS compliance staff within the AMER region
Assist in managing internal and external EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with relevant EHS laws, regulations, and Equinix standards
Help investigate non-compliance, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Maintain local EHS procedures tailored to site-specific and regional requirements
Provide guidance and training to operations teams on EHS best practices
Track and report EHS metrics (e.g., incident rates, audit findings) and support improvement initiatives
Collaborate with regional and global EHS, Legal, and Operations teams to maintain safety protocols
Act as a resource for EHS compliance in the AMER region
Audits & Certifications
Coordinates site level compliance audits (internal and external)
Acts as SPOC for Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) for audit activities
Manages and follows-up of audit findings
Identifies processes to be audited based on a set criteria and controls
Reports any findings to management and relevant stakeholders
Manages rollout of new certifications and sustenance of existing certifications within the sites in scope
Management Systems
Ensures local procedures are developed to comply with local legislative and Equinix requirements
Ensures all required compliance records are maintained in local/global repositories; this includes records relevant to Operations compliance (QISBC and EHS)
Creates global/regional policies and processes relevant to the compliance subject assigned
Program Management
Produces compliance reports for local management, including key performance indicators and metrics as required with assistance from senior team members
Analyzes corrective and preventative actions to identify systemic issues/root causes/delays in completion and recommend broader preventive actions
Identifies and participates in process improvement initiatives and compliance projects for the site/country in collaboration with regional and/or global stakeholders
Forecasts and tracks budget for assigned scope of work
Training
Develops and implements training plans for standards, regulatory and reporting requirements (i.e., environmental compliance, global security management)
Works with local, regional and global management to assess needs for new training or re-training efforts
Participates in creating relevant compliance training content
1st Line Responsibilities
Manages site level audit findings by providing SME guidance on compliance related questions
Acts as SPOC for site level compliance related customer or any third party audits
Performs site level audit evidence reviews including making sure the sites in scope are prepared for any upcoming audits
Creates and identifies changes to any local site level management system assets by raising a document change request, as per input from site personnel
Provides input and hosts site level Management Review meetings
Helps budget for any site level compliance needs/requirements
Ensures site level compliance with new and existing local/federal/regulatory requirements and follow up on any actions
Conducts site inspections with focus on requirements from local/regional/federal and Equinix requirements
Assists Data Center Managers in the implementation of site level compliance policies and processes as per global requirements
Compliance Implementation/Consulting
Manages compliance budgets for site(s) in scope
Manages Data Center Business Continuity Exercise program ensuring all required drills are planned, tracked, conducted, and documented by site Ops per global policy
Qualifications
3+ years of EHS compliance experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred
Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 14001, 45001 & 50001)
Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
