Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Director, Product Software Architecture and Engineering to build and lead a new dev-ops team offering an AI and container management service for Equinix Managed Solutions. Partner with product management to define requirements, service level objectives, and operational goals for the service. Integrate the service with global ordering and back-office systems to provide self-service. Work closely with EMS operations, EMS fulfillment, and Equinix network architecture to ensure the service design is compatible and well-integrated with existing infrastructure. Operate the service at an enterprise availability level as it scales out.

Responsibilities


Service Strategy & Platform Leadership

  • Define and execute the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Equinix's AI and Container Management Service.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate customer needs and market opportunities into platform capabilities.
  • Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs), operational standards, and platform governance.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native best practices across engineering and operations teams.

 

Architecture & Engineering

  • Lead architecture and design decisions and DevOps processes for Kubernetes/OpenShift-based managed services.
  • Ensure platform scalability, resiliency, security, and operational readiness.
  • Drive automation across provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with network, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless integration with Equinix's global platform.


System Optimization

  • Drives and manages change across the organization by implementing improvements to internal processes and systems
  • Proactively identifies gaps, risks and issues and influence key stakeholders across the organization to resolve them


Stakeholder Management

  • Responsible for providing objective and comprehensive input to senior leadership and executive decision makers
  • Solicits stakeholder input to define comprehensive improvement plans that are consistent and drive standardization across regions
  • Influences and collaborates with multiple stakeholders of multiple portfolios and projects to ensure effective release, change management and support plans are defined and communicated
  • Creates and drives broad stakeholder communications with respect to portfolio status and budget utilization


System Optimization

  • Develop operational KPIs and continuously improve service availability, performance, and customer experience.
  • Is accountable for successful implementation of approved system improvement recommendations
  • Drives adoption of best practices and standards


People Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing global engineering and DevOps organization.
  • Responsible for succession planning recommendations and contributing to and driving the people development strategy
  • Responsible for talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans
  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.



Qualifications

  • Director-level experience managing managers, delivering multiple software products or services
  • Proven experience leading DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
  • Strong and demonstrable operational experience providing a highly available global service
  • Experience delivering Kubernetes or (preferred) OpenShift-based infrastructure and operating it at scale
  • 15+ years professional experience in a software development leadership role
  • Bachelor's in Engineering preferred

 

 

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 240,000 - 360,000 USD / Annual

United States - Denver Office DEO : 200,000 - 300,000 USD / Annual

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 200,000 - 300,000 USD / Annual

United States - Tampa Office TAO : 200,000 - 300,000 USD / Annual

United States - New York City Office NYO1 : 220,000 - 330,000 USD / Annual

Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 166,000 - 248,000 CAD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
