Job Summary

As Equinix continues to lead the industry in sustainable, high efficiency data center operations, we are introducing a new, pioneering role responsible for supporting our customers to deploy and manage IT Infrastructure within our facilities in an energy efficient and sustainable manner.

We are seeking a IT Infrastructure Energy Specialist - a subject matter expert who will define, build, and govern the policies, standards, and frameworks that support our customers in deploying compliant equipment within our latest facility in Singapore.

It is a strategic, high impact position that ensures customers’ IT hardware installations are energy efficient, developing programs to promote energy efficient usage of infrastructure and training customers on their deployment.



Responsibilities

Equipment Policy, Standards & Governance

  • Develop and own Equinix’s IT Equipment Acceptance Policies for customer deployed hardware across compute platforms in our latest facility

  • Build decision frameworks, compliance checklists, screening processes, and validation methodologies

  • Define acceptance of thresholds for power consumption and sustainability performance

  • Interpret and integrate relevant energy efficiency, environmental, and network equipment standards, including:

    • ENERGY STAR
    • SS 715:2025 
    • SS697:2023 (Tropical Data Centre standard)


Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Develop, deploy and monitor Energy Efficiency Discount Programs to promote and encourage adoption of sustainable infrastructure by customers.

  • Engage directly with customer engineering teams to advise on energy efficient hardware deployment strategies

  • Conduct pre‑sales enablement with Sales Engineering, providing clear guidance on allowable equipment

  • Deliver training, workshops, and best practice material for internal teams (Ops, CSM, SE, Logistics)

  • Work with Sustainability, Facilities, and Network Engineering to align equipment acceptance with site capabilities and environmental objectives

Technical Evaluation & Compliance Leadership

  • Analyze customer proposed IT equipment specifications, datasheets to determine compliance with requirements for this latest Equinix site

  • Shape guidelines for permitted vs. non‑permitted configurations in this facility

  • Serve as Equinix’s SME for equipment energy performance

  • Lead major escalations and advise internal teams on IT equipment efficiency


Communications

  • Recommends and agrees the level of communications appropriate for the project/program being delivered across functions with key stakeholders

  • Uses consistent tools and templates and requires minimal feedback on messages delivered to audiences


Operational Integration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Logistics and Operations teams on inbound equipment validation workflows

  • Maintain and refine the local IT Equipment Governance Framework, supporting future scalability across regions

  • Monitor regulatory changes and emerging technologies; recommend process, documentation, and tooling improvements

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in compliance or IT Infrastructure engineering and/ or operations with proven experience focused on documentation, standards, and compliance

  • Strong technical knowledge of server platforms, virtualization and hypervisor technologies across major vendors (Dell, HPE, VMWare, etc.)

  • Deep understanding of Global Energy Efficiency standards for IT Infrastructure (Energy Star, EPEAT, ISC, ISO etc.) and hardware energy efficiency metrics

  • Demonstrated ability to lead customer facing discussions and address complex technical questions

  • Excellent documentation skills — able to produce enterprise grade guidelines, policies, and SOPs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with efficiency benchmarking tools (e.g., SPEC power)

  • Background in sustainability engineering or high efficiency data center environments

  • Familiarity with regulatory/standards bodies (IMDA, NEA, ETSI, ENERGY STAR)

  • Familiarity with mission critical Data Center environment
