Job Summary: This role will be on the centralized DCX design & research team. DCX covers the user experience of teams that work inside our 220+ Data Centers; Technicians, Engineers, Security Officers, and Visitors. DCX also covers the experiences of those who are Incident Responders, Capacity Planners & DC Design and Construction teams. These users use custom applications on touch devices. It is an exciting opportunity to design and do research on 2D & 3D maps, and responsive mobile experiences. We have direct access to our users.
Responsibilities
User Research and Usability
Researches, designs, and proposes user research plans across a particular functional domain of responsibility
Determines user research methodologies to optimize data collection
Interacts with stakeholders to determine requirements and set expectations
Creates user scenarios and stories to coordinate with other teams
Leads user research sessions including on-site visits
Analyzes research results to inform design and development
Presents results to stakeholders
UX Strategy
Applies critical thinking to a variety of complex user problems, taking into account user needs, business objectives and technical constraints
Can act as an internal UX SME for other internal or third-party projects, to ensure design consistency and sharing of best practices
People Management
Accountable for the performance and results of direct reports
Responsible for:
the performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire recommendations
GPS process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports
Talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans
Models the Equinix Culture and Values Resource and Budget Management
Works closely with Marketing Managers and Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for assigned projects
Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from his/her manager
Requests approvals for additional expenses outside of approved budget/headcount
Communicates budget estimates, and ensures team executes assigned projects within approved budgets
Manages and/or escalates issues, as needed Process/Policies/Standards
Creates/refines efficient processes, standards, and policies
Monitors violations, and designs a remediation plan to ensure adherence
Qualifications
10+ years of hands-on experience preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Master’s degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Cognitive Psychology, HCI, Industrial Engineering, Perceptual Psychology, or a related field highly preferred
Experience in quantitative measuring of the user experience preferred
2+ years experience directly managing, coaching, and developing full-time researchers preferred
Committed to being hands-on with UX research activities
Experience in hiring UX Researchers with various years of experience
Interested in understanding people who work in and around Data Centers around the world
