Environment, Health and Safety and Specialist

Job Description

Do you have experience implementing ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO50001 across several different sites?

We are looking for an experienced Environment, Health and Safety Specialist with preferably a knowledge of Energy Management, to oversee the EHS and Energy management system for Sweden. The EHS Specialist will report into the Sweden Operations Director with a dotted line into the GEM-N Compliance team. This role will take the lead on ensuring that the company protects the Environment, Health and Safety of its employees, contractors and visitors at all of its locations. Travel is required between the data centre's in Stockholm, and there may be some international travel for company meetings, audits and other business-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental and energy legislations
• Manage internal and external audits of the EHS and Energy management systems in line with business requirements.
• Ensure the effective management, monitoring and reporting of an effective EHS audit programme including managing all external audits (LRQA, Insurance)
• Provide EHS training and support to the Operations teams to ensure consistent standards
• Ensure that all accidents and near misses are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented
• Work with country teams to ensure a consistent approach to assessment of Health Safety and Environmental risks and the management of significant risks
• Ensure legal and other compliance audits are completed in accordance with agreed audit schedule.
• Ensure EHS documentation for the EHS Management systems remains up to date and appropriate for the business needs
• Collect and review EHS KPI’s and provide appropriate reports for senior management discussion
• Ensure compliance issues are added to and monitored on the corrective action tracker system
• Monitor internal corrective actions and improvements for effectiveness
• Support the production and progressing of EHS improvement plans throughout the country to support continual improvement
• Support HSE implementation plan
• Liaison with the Cross Functional team with regard to the FM Global Insurance team to ensure any EHS issues are addressed
• Assist the country management in the event of a major accidents or environmental incidents ensuring effective investigation has been carried out
• Prepare for and present Management Review with country management
• Review contractor performance on sites and arrange meetings with contractor management where there are EHS issues
• Monitor EHS performance on construction projects working with Project Managers to ensure areas of poor EHS performance are addressed
• Liaise with the Energy teams regarding any energy efficiency initiatives
• Roll out changes to the EHS standards as required
• Assist in the merging of any new acquisitions into the Equinix Sweden HSE Management Systems
• Manage noise surveys across the IBX’s
• Attend EHS meetings with the wider EMEA EHS teams on a regular basis to discuss issues and trends
• Collaborate with the EMEA EHS team for all EHS topics
• Assist Country management to ensure all EHS incidents are consistently recorded, adequately investigated and reviewed to prevent reoccurrence

Requirements

Essential

• NEBOSH certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or equivalent

Experience with ISO 45001 or ISO 14001

Desired

• Experience of working with regulators and local enforcement agencies
• Integrated Management Systems training/experience
• Experience/knowledge of M&E infrastructure operations
• Able to work with cultural diversity
• Sound survey experience
• Experience in Energy Management / ISO 50001 preferred
• DSE assessments experience
• Good working knowledge of MS Office systems
