Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Developer Advocacy is a leader in the Developer Relations organization which focuses on increasing awareness and adoption of Equinix products through our APIs, SDKs, and other code-based integrations. You will utilize your experience to lead the development and execution of the Developer Advocacy team strategy across an expanding global footprint and product portfolio. You will manage a diverse team that works with a wide range of stakeholders in order to:

  • Enable customers by providing the right tools and content on how our products work

  • Empower customers with knowledge on how to successfully solve for their needs through content and community engagement

  • Inspire customers with  new ways of working and delivering value to their organizations

Equinix’s product portfolio includes several digital infrastructure service offerings with highly capable APIs and SDKs. As Senior Manager of Developer Advocacy, you will be responsible for developing and managing the strategy for expanding the adoption of Equinix’s APIs, SDKs, and integrations with our customers, technical integration partners, startups, and open-source projects. You will not be starting from scratch but will be tasked with applying your experience to lead a talented team to accelerate their current success and find new ways to support growth. 

 

Responsibilities

  • In this role you will lead strategy and execution for engaging and supporting everyone that needs to automate infrastructure to deliver value, whether they are in operations, software development, or in teams that support software development

  • Identify and drive efficiencies in program management, process, product development, and communication that improve the experience of both internal and external customers

  • Lead a diverse team of highly technical product and use-case experts to reach audiences through a variety of content mediums and communities 

  • Establish and reinforce best practices for community support and engagement 

  • Support investment and GTM activities with open-source projects that run on or utilize Equinix technologies to support continued project development and industry adoption. 

  • Coordinate with Director of Integration Engineering on the co-development of solutions or integrations leveraging Equinix APIs and SDKs

  • Coordinate with the Director of Software Partner Advocacy on the development of combined solutions, joint value propositions, and GTM strategies with prioritized technology partners

  • Facilitate cross-functional review of content and community performance, including sales, operations, and marketing, as established in the team’s business plan.

  • Contribute to increasing product adoption and revenue growth in a product led-growth model

  • Manage and report on team performance to demonstrate recurring quarterly and annual growth on value-driven metrics

 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years proven success of leading a technical, customer-facing, team with internet, enterprise data center, hyperscale, or cloud-based products or services 

  • Passion for building an ecosystem of technical professionals – especially those who use code as a core part of their jobs

  • This role is very infrastructure focused. Experience with automating and integrating infrastructure into development and business workflows will be strongly considered. 

  • Strong initiative, organization and prioritization skills with the proven ability to work in a self-directed environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Driven to do the right thing, not afraid to say NO, taking calculated risks to create maximum impact

  • A leadership style that balances achieving measured performance goals with supporting space for creativity and experimentation 

  • Possess a customer-first mentality with an entrepreneurial spirit 

  • This role requires some travel (30+%) to attend events, meet with partners, and internal activities. Travel percentage is flexible and we’re not requiring a road warrior leader

For CO residents: In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for this role is $116,000 – $163,000 per year with 25% bonus target.

For NYC residents: In accordance with NYC Pay Transparency Law (https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3713951&GUID=E7B03ABA-8F42-4341-A0D2-50E2F95320CD&Options=Advanced&Search= ) the salary range for this role is $120,000 – $180,000 per year with 25% bonus target.
