Job Summary: As part of the Equinix Global Risk and Security organization, which also includes Business Continuity and Corporate Security, Risk Management is a small team with a global reach responsible for managing the company’s global property and liability insurance programs. The Senior Risk Manager plays a trusted advisor role as an insurance subject matter expert and develops strategy for individual lines of insurance, participates in due diligence for global mergers & acquisitions, provides input for joint venture formation and commercial agreements, and provides leadership in interactions with the Legal, Sales, Real Estate, Procurement and Construction teams on insurance contract provisions. The Senior Risk Manager reports to the Risk Management Director. The position will be based in one of the following locations: Tampa, FL; Frisco (Dallas), TX; Toronto, Canada.
Research and benchmark liability insurance program placements and partner with insurance broker to determine renewal strategy, including deductible/limit selection and program structure
Collect insurance renewal data, complete applications, lead renewal discussions, and provide renewal recommendations to Director
Create and manage insurance budget
Assist in managing global insurance brokerage relationship(s)
Oversees the management of related claims, including the facilitation of investigations and coverage evaluations; Supports local teams in documenting claims and negotiates settlements with insurers
Assists in due diligence and manages integration process for M&A or Real Estate transactions and coordinates support from international brokers
Serves as the Risk Management lead for all Equinix Joint Ventures, including Hyperscale and other independent structures, which requires input into legal and commercial agreements, structuring insurance coverage, due diligence, disclosures, etc.
Oversees all components of contract review (process/templates/pre-approved modifications/training), including terms for international agreements, and serves as a backup global approver for all insurance related components of contract review
Supports the negotiation of insurance requirements for construction contracts globally, including the purchase of structural warranty insurance where compulsory (i.e., France)
Assist with ERM risk identification surveys and risk assessments as required
Evaluates need for additional training programs and creates/delivers them using technology to support video recordings, etc.
Creates content for presentations to management
Additional projects as required
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics or International Business preferred
15+ years of experience, including prior work within the technology industry preferred
Industry Certifications - Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), etc. preferred
Prior experience working with insurance provisions in construction and customer contracts internationally
Legal background, construction risk management and international risk management preferred
Superior analytical and communication skills; Ability to influence others and create results without reporting relationships
Excellence in working across functions Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining aggressive deadlines
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint), Smartsheets helpful
